Nintendo Switch: which console will come next? President Furukawa clarifies

The president of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, recently talked about the company's plans for new hardware coming next Nintendo switch. In an interview with Nikkei, translated by VGCFurukawa said the Japanese company is always in constant search for new hardware in a research and development phase, but the company will not release a new console until it can offer something unique and meaningful. The man explained that Nintendo is "constantly looking for new technologies," adding that Nintendo's software and hardware teams work within the same building and are "communicating closely" about future entertainment experiences. Furukawa said Nintendo's goal is "to propose new forms of entertainment":

To create a single piece of hardware, a lot of preparation is required several years in advance, so we are working without stopping. Ultimately, the deciding factor in whether or not to market a product is whether it can create a new experience. We always say we are in the middle of the Switch life cycle, and since a piece of hardware can be used to play both stationary and portable games, we can offer a wide variety of software for this purpose. The life cycle can still be extended.

Nintendo released the Switch console in March 2017 and it is doing exceptionally well in the market, with sales that exceed the PlayStation 2 (the best-selling console in history) in the same time period. Furukawa believes the Switch still has a lot to do and won't be replaced by a new piece of hardware too soon. While Nintendo may not release a genuine Switch successor anytime soon, the company is working on one updated version of the famous hybrid console. However, Nintendo continues to deny that this update will arrive by the end of 2021. Beyond that, did you know that a prototype of 2016 Nintendo Switch?
