Niantic sued for AR technology on its video games

Many fans of Niantic have been thrilled with the recent new additions to its games such as Pokémon Go e Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. With special uses of augmented reality in apps, the company has created a unique version of existing franchises - however, this could have gotten into serious trouble. Niantic. Speaking of which, the Japanese company brought many new events to both games this month, including a Porygon Community Day e Mega Energy. While many of the new advances with these apps have given more variety to the people who play them, some of the patents used in creating these games like Pokemon GO could now put the company in serious trouble:

Niantic has been sued by a tech company because of the way augmented reality is used in these video games. The company that filed the lawsuit is NantWorks LLC, who routinely works with technology used in the medical field and with the billionaire transplant surgeon Patrick Soon-Shiong. Nantworks filed this lawsuit in federal court in California, claiming that Niantic is currently infringing the technology from three patents that have to do with augmented reality in video games - this happened last September 4th and Niantic has not yet publicly commented on the situation.

Nantworks has been working with augmented reality technology since 2011 and is dedicated to improving the technology, which covers patents allegedly infringed by Niantic, however this legal process is still early in its development, so fans will have to wait to see what happens.
