New York Zoo is a new tile-placing title for 1-4 players, designed by Uwe Rosenberg and published by Capstone Games e Tierra del Fuego games. An edition by Skull Creations, due out later this year. Based on the proven mechanics of patchwork fabric, Spring Meadow e Indian Summer, the purpose of the title is to fill your zoo with areas for animals and attractions: the winner will be the player who is the first to run out of free spaces. By moving a marker around a circular track, we can stop on spaces that provide tiles (to be added directly to our board, as long as we can place an animal on them) or on spaces that provide animals. Some points also contain "reproduction" circles, on which it is not possible to stop and which when "exceeded" allow all players to add up to two "puppies" in areas that contain at least one pair of animals of that type. An area fully occupied by animals allows you to take one of the coveted attractions, which will help us speed up the completion of our zoo.
New York Zoo considerations after our test
New York Zoo represents a beautiful evolution of the mechanics of "Tetris" inserted in the previous titles of the author. The major twist of the game is the ability to mate our animals, an option that will bring us closer to victory but must be carefully planned in the previous rounds, managing the positioning of the meeples in order to maximize the number of pairs in the areas.
The title is fun and fast, very enjoyable even in two players (and also includes a solo mode, which we have not tried for now).
