    Disney announced that he has officially started shooting the live action film Mulan, reinterpretation of the animated feature film produced in 1998.

    Mulan tells the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who disguises herself as a man to defend China from attack by invaders from the North.     Liu Yifei (The Forbidden Kingdom, Once Upon a Time) was cast to play the role of Hua Mulan following a year-long casting process. The cast of the film also includes D (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Jason scott lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny), Yoson An (Shark - The First Shark), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Voices - Pitch Perfect), Ron Yuan (Marco Polo), Tzi Ma (Arrival), Rosalind Chao (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Cheng Pei-Pei (The Tiger and the Dragon), Nelson Lee e Chum EhelepolaWith the participation of Gong Li (Memoirs of a Geisha, Red Lanterns) e Jet Li (Shao Lin Si, Lethal Weapon 4).

    The film, expected to be released in 2020, is directed by Niki Caro (The Whale Girl, McFarland USA) based on a screenplay written by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Jurassic World, Heart of the Sea - The Origins of Moby Dick) and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek, based in turn on the narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan. The Disney live action film Mulan is produced by Jason T. Reed (Ninja Turtles), Chris Bender (A History of Violence) and Jake Weiner (Criminal) while Barrie M. Osborne (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), Bill Kong (The Tiger and the Dragon, Kingdom of Wuba) and Tim Coddington (Crazy & Rich) are executive producers.
