    content warning

The Samsung Galaxy A40 is one of the latest premium mid-range Android smartphone models that was launched on the market last April 2019. It has a solid build quality made of a plastic body with a 5,9-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

There is a dual rear sensor on the back and a single 25MP selfie camera on the front. Under the hood is an Exynos 7904 octa core processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM.

While this is a solid performing device, there are instances where certain issues can occur which we will address today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network unavailable issue.

Mobile network not available on Galaxy A40 what to do?

Make sure your phone is running on the latest software version before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below.

If there is an update available, I suggest you download and install it right away. It is important to check for carrier related software updates, as this will typically fix carrier related connectivity bugs.

    1) Check that your area has a good network signal

Sometimes you will find yourself in an area that has no network signal. To check if this is a coverage problem, you can check if other devices on the same network are also having the same problem.

However, if you are in an area with excellent network coverage but your phone is not receiving any signal, it is possible that the problem is caused by a network outage. You need to contact the operator to check if there has been a network outage, you need to proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

    2) Perform a soft reset of Galaxy A40

There are instances where a software glitch can cause this problem which is why you will need to update your phone's software. What you will need to do is restart your phone which should clear any corrupt temporary data in the device that may be causing the problem.

This step will also reset the phone's connection to the network which usually fixes this type of problem.

    • Press and hold the power key and volume down for up to 45 seconds.
    • Wait for the device to restart.

Check if the Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network issue is still not available.

    3) Check the SIM

There are cases where the problem is caused by a problem with the SIM. If this is what is causing the problem then you need to turn off the phone, then remove the SIM card. Wait a few minutes before reinserting the SIM, then turn on the phone. Check if the problem persists.

You should also consider using a different SIM in your phone to eliminate the possibility that the problem is caused by a faulty SIM card.

    4) Check your phone's roaming status

Generally, you need to make sure that your phone's roaming status is turned off if you are in your home country. This applies to travelers who have returned from another country and still have the device's roaming status activated. You can access your phone's roaming settings from Settings> Connections> Mobile networks> Data roaming.

Check if the Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network issue is still not available.

    5) Make sure Airplane Mode is turned off

Airplane mode is a phone setting that is usually used when on an airplane. When activated, the phone will not receive or transmit any wireless signal so as not to interfere with the electronic equipment of the aircraft.

If you are having the issue with Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network unavailable, make sure Airplane mode is off or you can try to toggle this switch if it is already in the off position.

    6) Change the network mode on your Galaxy A40

Make sure your phone is using the correct network mode that matches the one used by your carrier. For most GSM carriers, the phone must be set to 4G or LTE.

    • Open the Settings app.
    • Tap Connections.
    • Tap Mobile networks.
    • Tap Network mode and select 4G or LTE or auto connect.

Check if the Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network is not yet available.

    7) Boot the Galaxy A40 in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store causes problems on your phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem, you will need to boot your phone in Safe Mode as only pre-installed apps can work in this mode.

    • Turn off the device.
    • Press and hold the power key past the model name screen that appears on the screen.
    • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
    • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key.
    • Continue to hold the Volume Down key until the device has finished restarting.
    • When Safe Mode appears in the lower left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down key.

In case the problem does not occur in this mode, it is most likely caused by an installed app. Find out what this app is and uninstall it.

    8) Wipe cache partition of Galaxy A40

There are instances where the cached data in the dedicated partition of the phone can get corrupted. When this happens, certain problems usually occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what is causing the problem, you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone from recovery mode.

    • Turn the phone off.
    • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
    • When the device logo screen appears, release the Power key only
    • When the Android logo is displayed, release all keys (“Installing system update” will be displayed for approximately 30 - 60 seconds before displaying the Android system recovery menu options).
    • Press the Volume Down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition”.
    • Press the power button to select.
    • Press the Volume down key to highlight “Yes” and press the Power key to select.
    • When the cache partition is finished wiping, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
    • Press the power key to restart the device.

Check if the Samsung Galaxy A40 mobile network is not yet available.

    9) Perform a factory reset on Galaxy A40

In case the above steps fail to fix the problem, it is likely that this is caused by a software glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

    • Press the Volume Down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset”.
    • Press the power button to select.
    • Press the Volume Down key until “Yes - delete all user data” is highlighted.
    • Press the power button to select and start the master reset.
    • When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
    • Press the power key to restart the device.
    • With no apps installed in your phone, try to check if the problem persists.

If the problem persists even after following the steps listed above, it may already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to take the phone to a service center and have it checked.
