Marvel's Spider-Man: here are the confirmed costumes and the 25 we'd like to see

In about a month we will finally be able to get our hands on one of the most anticipated titles of this year, Marvel's Spider-Man by Insomniac Games. Shown at E3 two years ago, it will hit shelves around the world on September 7, ready to launch one spider web at a time through the streets of New York City.

The Marvel hero, in addition to being known for his "From Great Powers comes Great Responsibilities", is famous for the amount of costumes and variants of parallel universes he possesses. Confirmed within Marvel's Spider-Man the presence of more costumes (of which 5 confirmed), so let's see which, among the dozens and dozens of spandex suits, the Spider-Man of Insomniac could wear.

Important premise: We will try not to list those costumes similar to the original, variations of textures or things like that (like Spider-Man UK). Furthermore, since it is neither confirmed nor denied that the costumes will have extra abilities depending on the type, we will try to think how the implementation of these could vary some gameplay dynamics. We will then start with the 5 costumes now confirmed, and then move on to the 25 that we would like to find in the game, concluding with 5 female variants that it would be fun to be able to use in the title.

Spider-Man Classic

We only saw it for a few frames in the latest trailer linked to the San Diego Comic-Con, but it's confirmed that (at least at the beginning of the game) we'll have the classic Spider-Man costume. Despite the many variations it has undergone over time, the iconic elements are all there, from the colors to the canvas, passing through the eyes that can change size. This latter feature, a homage to old cartoons, had been brought into the film by Spider-Man Homecoming, and it looks like this costume takes a lot of detail from the movie one, with the exception of the black bands.

Spider-Man White Spider Suit

The costume shown atE3 2016, with that white spider and those particular finishes on the arms: this will be the main costume, our companion on adventures. There is therefore little to say, especially due to the scarce information leaked.

Spider-Punk

Among the first bonus costumes available with preorder, the Spider-Punk remains one of the most interesting and fun to see. The costume is by Hobart Brown (Earth-138): in his universe he is the head of the Spider Army against the regime of President Osborn. The costume probably won't bring any additions in terms of skill, but nothing can be ruled out given the work they are doing in terms of details.

Iron Spider MCU

Second pre-order bonus costume, this one is faithfully inspired by theIron Spider seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The costume features a lot of Stark technologies, and could easily bring additional gadgets and abilities to Insomniac's Spider-Man. Important note that must be done, in reality the Iron Spider of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is inspired, in turn, by the one seen in the Civil War comic, which we will talk about shortly.

Spider-Man Velocity Suit

Third and final costume preorder, fifth costume confirmed, the Velocity Suit it was created specifically for the Insomniac Games game. Designed by Adi Granov (Extremis), this one stays much closer to an armor than a spandex costume: in addition, the glowing spider seen on the chest is inspired by the one seen in one of the most recent runs of the comic, which they saw a Peter Parker at the head of his science lab.

Spider-Man 2099

From here, our fantasy takes over: among all the Spider-Man costumes seen, the one that remains the most interesting (also given the plot) is that of Spider-Man 2099. Miguel O'Hara, geneticist of Alchemax, plays the role of Spider-Man in this timeline set in 2099. Working on some experiments on the genetic mutation, he is forced to experiment his discoveries on a human being, who however dies. Destroyed by this, he tries to get away from Alchemax, but is given a very powerful and legal drug, which forces him to find a way to get rid of it. In doing so, he experiments on himself with his results on the spider project, leaving it mutated. Much different from Peter Parker in terms of character, Miguel is more swashbuckling and braggart even in his civilian shoes. The powers are also different: he can climb walls but thanks to the retractable claws, he can produce an organic spider web (which the classic Spider-Man can't help), has accelerated vision and poisonous retractable quills. In one of the latest runs of the comic, his costume was changed from the classic blue-red (which we can see above, however, to be very different from the classic Spidey), opting for something very futuristic white-red. It would be interesting to have this costume in the game because of Miguel's skills, which could add to our Peter's arsenal.

Superior Spider-Man Suit

What if Dr. Octopus, just before he died, swapped his mind with Peter Parker's? Superior Spider-Man tells just that: an Otto Octavius ​​inside Spider-Man's body, who will find himself forced to redeem himself and do good because of the previous spider's memories. As you can see, the costume has black and red colors, returning to the first concept of Spider-Man ideation. Present 4 mechanical arms (we always talk about Octopus) similar to the Iron Spider, and other technological improvements. The style is inspired by the first sketch by Alex Ross, designed for Raimi's film.

Black Spider-Man

In a game of Spider-Man can not miss the black costume. Arrived in 1984, during the Secret Wars, it will then prove to be a symbiote, the future Venom. The same costume will return in the future, this time made only of fabric, in some particular Spider-Man sagas.

The costume will almost certainly be present in the game, although it will hardly show symbiotic abilities. But if you are curious to know what we think, read the next point.

Symbiotes

The symbiote dynamics will hardly be fully managed, but it would not be bad to see some costumes linked to some well-known symbiote such as Venom, Carnage, Anti-Venom or even Toxin. The film is on its way, and given the confirmation of appearances of the caliber of Riot (which you can find in the comic Venom: Lethal Protector), a marketing move is not to be ruled out. The symbionts, capable of modifying their own body, would bring particular abilities in Peter Parker's skill park, shifting the gameplay a little towards the style of Prototipe (perhaps avoiding the possibility of devouring people).

Spider-Man Stealth Suit

Let's go back to non-living customs with the Stealth Suit, created by Peter to face the Hobgoblin: it has stealth and anti-sound properties, and is widely used by Peter to face missions where it must go unnoticed. The skills of this costume would not be difficult to replicate in the game, and scenically it makes a nice effect, thanks also to the different settings that make it change color.

Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

It is shown in the trailer, but we don't know if it will have spidery powers or not: Miles Morales, in the Ultimate universe, is the new Spider-Man. His suit is a simple costume, but the coloring and style would be interested in bringing into the game. Maybe we can use it by controlling Miles: the young boy has different spider abilities, a less powerful sense of spider but can become invisible and create energy attacks that can stun.

Spider-Man Noir

The Peter Parker of the 1933 it is very reminiscent of the classic Spider-Man, but is part of a less colorful and more hard-boiled parallel universe. Bitten by a mystical spider, he will gain the powers to defend the city from corruption and the underworld. Of course, gun in hand and totally black costume.

Red Spider

Clone of Peter Parker, for a while he will play the role of Spider-Man (due to identity exchange problems between him and the real Peter). Subsequently, to have his own identity, the civil side will be called Ben reilly (uncle's name and aunt's maiden name), while in tights he will be the Red Spider for everyone. Virtually identical to Peter Parker (he will be the only clone to be, others will have some different characteristics), the costume would only be an aesthetic change.

Spider-Man Unlimited

Taken from an animated series consisting of 13 episodes, one tells Spider-Man who, in order to defeat Venom and Carnage, will be forced to go to the Counter-Earth (version of the Earth on the opposite side of the sun). To leave, Reed Richards will give him a technological costume, the one you see above. Midway between 2099 and the classic, however, it has many technological upgrades.

Captain Universe Spider-Man

During one of his old stories, a laboratory accident will grant Peter the Uni-Power, which will transform his costume into that of Captain Universe and will give him greater powers. Some of these would be difficult to transpose into the game, but it would be fun to be able to use them, perhaps during the late-game (at the end of the game).

Spider-Armor

To defeat heavily armed enemies, Peter Parker was forced to create a version of the costume made of pseudo-metal, the so-called Spider-Armor, causes Spider-Man to lose speed in exchange for bulletproof properties. Not the best, however, he has been a part of many of the Spider-Man games to date. There are also more recent versions, so it would not be bad to implement it with lots of additional resistance.

Spider-Man India

Version of Spider-Man that has as location Mumbai, India. Composed of 4 albums, it is set in Earth-50101 and tells the story of Pavitr Prabhakar, who will have to clash with many enemies already seen in Spider-Man, but in a pro-Indian version. The character has the same powers, but the costume is really well done.

Spider-Man 1602

Like Noir and India, too Spider-Man 1602 is set in an alternate universe (Earth-311), and tells the story of Peter Parquagh, the Spider-Man of that era. With different events - but the usual aura of similarity - in this era he will be called The Spider, and his costume would be fun to see on Peter Parker in the game.

Spider-Man Electro Proof

To defeat Electro, Spider-Man found himself forced to create a costume capable of resisting his attacks: this is how this suit was born which, thanks to the material that composes it, manages to defend itself from the powers of the villain. Given her presence in the game, it would not be impossible to see her in her splendor and skills.

Ends of the Earth Armor

This armor is also referred to as the Mark 3 of the Spider-Armor (the first two can be seen in Spider-Armor, the fourth is the costume from which the Velocity Suit takes inspiration). It was created by Peter to defeat the Sinister Six, and has technological functions, improved lenses and various power-ups dedicated to finding and defeating them.

Bombastic Bag-Man

It would be just an easter egg, but it has already happened in the titles of Spider-Man: After being separated from the Venom symbiote, Peter had no costume to protect him. A Fantastic 4 jumpsuit and a paper bag will cover his identity!

Spider-Man Future Foundation

After the death of Johnny Storm, his will explicitly stated that he wanted Spider-Man as the fourth member of the Fantastic 4 (called at the time as the Future Foundation). So here is a costume, this time specially created, made of unstable molecules, black and white coloring.

Kaine Suit

Let's go back to the clones, but this time to a deformed one: called Kaine, brings hatred towards Peter Parker and Ben Reilly, for being the original and the perfect clone respectively. He will pass among the good guys (as an anti-hero) in recent runs, they become the Red Spider later, in honor of Ben Reilly and with the stealth suit seen previously. Kaine has different powers (some seen in the Evolve or Die Spider-Man saga) such as retractable spikes, organic web, night vision.

Iron Spider Comics

As we approach the end, we see together the original Iron Spider: created for Peter Parker during Civil War, the costume differs greatly from the original and the MCU's Iron Spider. The skills, on the other hand, remain very similar.

Spider-Man 2211

Let's go back to the future, in another year, 2211: Max Borne, a Time Spinner, returns to have the same colors as the original, but a decidedly more technological shape (and with a similar appearance to Judge Dredd).

Spider-Phoenix

In an X-Men saga, the extent of the Fenice she began to travel from hero to hero, and then moved into Spider-Man as well, for the occasion with unlimited powers and a whole new costume. Impossible to see with the skills in the game, but it would be nice on the aesthetic side.

Kung-Fu Spider-Man

After losing his spider senses, Spider-Man was forced to train with Shang-Chi to make up for the lack. Thus created the way of the spider, Peter thus learned martial arts. The costume, made of a particular Spider-Man mask, naked torso and combat pants, is one of the most interesting of the last period.

Spider-Prime

Kevin Green is a well-known hero of Earth-93060, endowed with unimaginable powers. Without dwelling on the character, in a story he will find himself stuck in the Marvel universe, with halved powers. This will not allow him to transform into Prime, but he will manage to become Spider-Prime.

Ricochet /Hornet / Prodigy /Dusk

Framed by Osborn and Trapster for an unspoken murder, Spider-Man for a period he will find himself wearing 4 different costumes, forcing himself to have different ways of saying and doing so as not to be discovered, as well as using only a part of his powers each time, in order not to arouse suspicion.

Spider-Ham

Last, but not least, the great Peter Porker aka Spider-Ham. Peter was a spider who lived in the dungeon of mad scientist May Porker. Bitten by her after drying her hair with a nuclear hair dryer, he became a pig. Of course, he has all the powers of Peter Parker.

Spider-Gwen

Let's go now to see the various female versions: let's start from Gwen Stacy of Earth-65, with spider-like powers and the name of Spider-Woman. The powers are similar, the costume much less.

Silk

Cindy Moon she was bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker, shortly before she died. So here is Silk, a heroine who will appear only recently, as she was held captive by Ezekiel Sims. He has powers similar to Spider-Man, but he can weave an organic web (stuff his costume is made of).

Spider-Woman

Jessica Drew, shares only the spider genre with Spider-Man: otherwise, the origin of his powers is different, and so are they. It can fly, fire bio-electric rays, control pheromones, as well as climb.

Spider-Girl

Peter Parker's daughter from an alternate reality, May “Mayday” Parker it's Spider-Girl: the powers are practically the same, the costume very similar, the way to do it too. In addition, a better regenerating factor and the ability to make objects stick together thanks to magnetism.

Ashley Barton
