Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series - Episode 1 Review

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series - Episode 1 Review

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is the result of the first and much discussed collaboration between Telltale Games e The Marvel movies. Already from other collaborations with the counterpart DC Comics with titles like The Wolf Among Us or the most recent Batman, the developers of the talked about studio return for this new title to draw again from the world of comics. In particular, now we are going to see the pilot episode of the game entitled "Tangled Up in Blue". This first chapter sees its publication exactly one week after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in our cinemas, allowing us to experience an alternative scenario to that of films.

Rad Mix!

Our story will begin with the receipt of a distress call from the Nova Corps (space police force) for the Guardians of the Galaxy. To answer on behalf of all will be Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, that we are going to impersonate in this first part of the game. In his shoes we will lead this bizarre group on a new and unprecedented intergalactic adventure. After a series of events that we will not go into in depth so as not to ruin your gaming experience, we will get our hands on an ancient alien relic: the Forge of Eternity. With it we will attract the attention of Hala and his army who aim to use the temporal powers of the artifact to restore their own people, exterminated by none other than Thanos in person. This is essentially the introductory incipit of our story which will cover both the future and the past of our heroes.

To conclude

Narration and plot remain flawless as always (as now almost taken for granted with such titles) even if not excessively stunning or scoring for now. The style of the cartoon drawings chosen for the previous works, however, has been abandoned in favor of a more "realistic" one, which however does not perform much with the graphics engine used by the studio (perhaps more suitable for works devoted to a certain artistic style ). As for the soundtrack, it could only stick to musical atmospheres of the eighties, that distinguish this saga in all its transpositions. The dubbing, despite diverging from the official one of the cinematic universe, is still enjoyable and of good quality

Tangled Up in Blue marks an excellent debut for the series. Our hope is that in the next episode we will see more incisive and elucidating plot implications, which will optimally grow the foundations laid with this introductory chapter. Highly recommended for opera fans The Marvel movies and to the followers of Telltale Games who will have the opportunity to win at a bargain price Season Pass to fully enjoy this new adventure.

Modus Operandi: the review you just read was written based on the version PlayStation 4 of the game, after completing the entire episode.
