Marvel's Avengers - Preview, Square Enix's Avengers have teamed up

Unfortunately, it is not easy to be a product The Marvel movies, expectations are always very high and disappointing fans is an easy risk to run into. Square Enix had decided that E3 2019 would be the stage on which to officially present its Marvel's Avengers, a game that we have discovered a few days ago will not be part of the MGU, but which at the same time has attracted the attention of the general public. And how could it be the other way around? Unfortunately, after the first trailer, the reactions of players and critics were rather cold, which is more than normal, especially after having still imprinted in the retinas the images of a colossal such as Endgame and, to remain in our medium of reference, Marvel's Spider-Man di Insomniac Games. These two works just mentioned have certainly made a scorched earth, since from now on any product branded the house of ideas will pass under an accurate magnifying glass. We still don't know if Marvel's Avengers it will be connected to the canonical videogame universe, but in any case the idea that we got on the title is quite confused, also because the presentation was certainly not clarifying. However, we are able to put the various pieces together, put together the information we have and begin to complete this complex puzzle.

Unity is strength

Let's start with what we know about the plot of Marvel's Avengers: During Avengers Day, the whole group heads to San Francisco for the inauguration of the new headquarters. What, at least in appearance, was supposed to be a happy and carefree day, has become a tragic moment that will bring the end of the Avengers. In fact, a terrorist attack led by Taskmaster aims to generate chaos never seen before. In an attempt to defeat the enemy military, our heroes lose sight of the Helicarrier that falls on the city. Once their flying base is lost, the strategy is only a distant memory, and the Avengers begin to be overwhelmed by a significantly larger opponent. This leads to the success of the plan of the bad guys, who manage to activate a bomb that irreparably devastates the entire area. The beloved Avengers are attacked as a scapegoat, forced to live in the shadows and hated by everyone. The real events will start again 5 years after this tragic event, with the quintet that will have to reunite again to save the life of an ungrateful population.

The heroes glimpsed in the trailer were Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America e Hulk, significantly different from their cinematic counterpart and with a final result that makes us turn up our noses but to which we will have to get used to. The narrative bases on which this will force Marvel's Avengers they are not particularly original, but they are just fine for the final goal of production. The game wants to make the user feel like a real superhero pad in hand, a task that was very successful for the aforementioned Marvel's Spdier-Man by Insomniac Games. However, this last production had a well-written story behind it and faced with courage by the whole team, the choice to mix cinema and comics would risk creating a slight confusion.

Is Marvel's Avengers singleplayer or multiplayer?

Marvel's Avengers it's a real hybrid, but we'll come back to this later. Let's start by saying that basically, the game seems to wink slightly at Destiny as far as the multiplayer side is concerned, making use of the extreme power of the licenses The Marvel movies. The license plate title Crystal Dynamics is in effect a third-person action that attempts to combine the single-player campaign with content designed for co-op for up to four players. Therefore, singleplayer and multiplayer aren't quite that separate, and even if the house of development has not unbuttoned little in this sense, we know that both experiences will be complete and neither side. The developers have confirmed that the title will have a rich campaign, with players choosing a specific character and then finding themselves joined by another hero. This we believe will inevitably affect gameplay, as each protagonist will have their own. Thor he can wield his hammer, fly and unleash lightning, Iron Man although weaker in melee, he can rely on all the war arsenal of his super suit, captain America uses his shield by throwing it at the enemies and showing a clear superiority in the fight with bare hands one on one, Black Widow uses his fighting moves by mixing them with agility and, finally, Hulk that just smashes everything and throws the enemies away.

The different abilities of all the heroes will then have to mix, especially since there will be several objectives and boss fights to finish. If you are afraid that after finishing the campaign it will all be over here, you are wrong, since the players will be able to dedicate themselves to the online where they can finish different activities, with unpublished stories and regions, so as to also enhance different characters. Marvel's Avengers is a game made to last, for this reason after the release the developers have repeatedly reassured that they will leave additional free content as new heroes. However, we still don't know for sure how the entire multiplayer sector will work, but the biggest challenge will be to find the right balance of the protagonists so that none of them prevail over the other.

In conclusion, we can say that if the development company were really able to keep these promises, we could find ourselves in our hands with a more than functional product, the problem is that if things do not go well immediately there could be a sudden halt in the project. THE game as service they are titles that people tend to forget over time, the only solution to keep the enthusiasm alive is to constantly “throw up” content inside them. Self Marvel's Avengers will succeed in this enterprise we will certainly be very happy, but the fact remains that as far as we have seen, the situation is not yet completely clear. We hope to receive some information already in the coming weeks. For now we remain quite doubtful about the final product, we do not feel too unbalanced, even if the feeling we had is that of finding ourselves in front of a tasteless product, full of good ideas but which risks not knowing how to realize them. Let's hope instead we're wrong, so as to have that sort of definitive game of the Avengers that fans dream of.
