Disney recently presented the first teaser trailer dedicated to the sequel to the film Maleficent, which sees the Hollywood star as the undisputed protagonist Angelina Jolie as the terrible fairy. Maleficent 2, was initially supposed to arrive in international cinemas in 2020, but the release date was instead brought forward to 17 October for theaters and October 18 for American ones.
Directed by Joachim Rønning, co-director of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean, the film will boast the same cast as the first film, and will therefore reproduce on the big screen the interpretations of Michelle Pfeiffer in the role of Regina Ingrith, Elle Fanning in the role of the young Aurora, Sam Riley in the role of Fosco, and Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville and Juno Temple - respectively engaged in the roles of Giuggiola, Fiorina and Verdella. Among the new faces, however, it counts Harris Dickinson, who will play Prince Philip, effectively replacing Brenton Thwaites.
With regard to the synopsis, not much has been revealed yet about it. What we currently know is that Maleficent 2 will be set several years after the events described in the first film, and “will continue to explore the complex relationship between Maleficent and the future Queen, as they strive to form new alliances and face new adversaries in the 'intent to protect the moor and the magical creatures that populate it ”.
