Magic: The Gathering Arena, here are all the news for May and June

After the substantial update regarding the expansion Ikoria: Land of the Behemots, W is ready to further expand its proprietary client. We obviously speak of Magic: The Gathering Arena, digital version of the well-known collectible card game that is enjoying great success from the community day after day. Trying to overcome the problems related to the coronavirus, which do not allow players to compete regularly as usual, the software house has decided to implement interesting updates in the game, which will be seen in May and June. So let's see what it is.

The next update will bring new cards and mechanics into play. Let's talk aboutHistoric Anthology III, which includes many of the title's iconic creatures. This will contain a total of 27 new cards, including Shrines, Flashback and extremely powerful effects. The bundle can be purchased for 4000 gems or 25.000 gold, and will grant you all cards, which can still be created through jokers. It looks like the new bundle will be New Year's Eve, however, the developer is ready to permanently implement the Classified Historic, obviously complementary to the queues already present in-game.

The highly anticipated Draft Cube is finally ready to hit Magic: The Gathering Arena, and will show up through a real-time card picking system with other players. The first cube will contain 555 cards, but players will only be able to open the classic 3 packs of 15 cards for each queue. Any of these could include however many extraordinary cards, such as more Mythic Rares in a single pack, but obviously what is drafted will not be added to the users' collection. The first event will arrive on June 12, and the first queue will be free for all players.

Ready for the Magic: The Gathering Arena Open Arena

As confirmed last month, the developer plans to add a competitive mode to Magic: The Gathering Arena, which can however be available to all users with ease. In this case we are talking about gold and gem rewards, but also about real money that can be won through the game client. The first event will arrive very soon, but it includes some clauses that must be respected before being able to participate in the first of the two phases, here are listed.

  • To participate, you must be at least 18 years old
  • Some local eligibility restrictions apply, as the event is prohibited in some countries
  • Receipt of cash rewards is subject to owning or creating a Wizards, DCI and i-Payout account
  • The official terms and conditions of the event are present for further details on the complete rules

The tournament will be held over two different days. The first will start on 30 may at 17: 00 (), and will last until 31 may at 13: 00 (), but those who have already participated will be allowed to complete their games, until 16:00 (). Meetings will be held with the format Single Game Standard Constructed, where it will be possible to play until having obtained seven wins or three defeats. In any case, it will remain possible to participate as many times as you wish, but each membership will cost 20.000 gold or 4.000 gems. All participating users will receive special cards Lands of Godzilla. We list below all the prizes based on the victories of the first day.
