In a recent interview with Edge's microphones, Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, discussed various topics regarding the PlayStation 5 and PS4 ecosystem. According to the words of the SIE boss, PlayStation 4 will continue to play an important role in the company's near future. Unlike the PS3, the now old Sony flagship will receive more support, in terms of games, in order to satisfy the more than 100 million players on PS4. We report in detail the words of Jim Ryan:
We believe we have a responsibility to that very large community and an opportunity to continue making great PS4 games, as long as it's needed. And I think it's the right thing to do, it's the rational thing to do, and I think you're going to see support and titles coming to PS4 that you haven't seen with PS3. But that said, as time goes on, you will see more and more emphasis on PS5 development and the PS5 SKU will be the primary SKU.
We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that when you are committed to building a next generation console, it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not. And that, in our opinion, people should make games that make the most of these features.
