One tip is to keep an eye on the amount of RAM your applications consume and close those that don't need to be constantly open. To do this, go to settings> apps. Go to each of them and click on "clear cache" and / or "clear data".
Another thing that works to free up RAM space is to shut down any processes you have in the background. From the Home screen, click the square button to view all open applications that use RAM. You just have to close the ones you don't need.
