Screenshot Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – With the palm of your hand

The second method does not use any buttons. You can simply slide the palm of your hand horizontally across the display. This method must be enabled in Settings.

To enable Samsung screenshot with palm of your hand follow these instructions:

  • First, swipe down once from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.
  • Scroll down to “Advanced Features”.
  • Now go to “Motions and Gestures”.
  • Turn on the switch for Palm Swipe to Capture if it isn't already.
  • To actually perform the gesture, place the side of your open hand (the little finger side) on the display and swipe it from right to left. The screen will flash once the screenshot is taken.
  • The screenshot will now be saved in the Gallery app.

Take a long or scrolling Samsung screenshot

Sometimes you may want to capture more than what you can see on screen. The “Scroll Capture” feature allows you to take a long screenshot.

  • Start by taking a screenshot with one of the methods above. This time, select the arrows icon in a box found in the floating toolbar.
  • You will see the screen scroll down automatically and the screenshot will stretch. Tap the icon again to scroll more. Repeat until you have everything you want in the screenshot.
  • You can now tap the crop icon to finish.

Use the crop tool to adjust the screenshot, then tap the save icon to download the screenshot to the Gallery app.

Use the Smart Select feature

Android makes it easy to crop a screenshot right after you take it, but you can skip that step on Samsung phones with the "Smart Select" tool. This allows you to take a screenshot of a specific section of the screen.

First we need to enable a handy feature called “Perimeter Panels”. Swipe down once from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.

  • Then, go to the “View” section.
  • Turn on the Perimeter Panels switch and then tap the name.
  • You will see a small animation showing how the perimeter panels can be accessed. Go to “Panels”.
  • Having done this, we find something to grab and slide the edge panel from the side of the display.

You may have to swipe left or right through the panels to get the Smart Select tools. It has “Rectangle” and “Oval” screenshot options to choose from.

A rectangle or oval shape will appear as an overlay on the screen. Drag the handles to select the area you want to capture. Tap "Done" when you're ready.

An editing screen will appear with options to “Extract Text” from the image, draw on it and share it. Tap the save icon when you're done.

Use Ciao Bixby to get a screenshot on your Samsung

The last method doesn't require you to touch your Galaxy S22 Ultra at all. Samsung's "Bixby" virtual assistant can take a screenshot with a voice command.

Before you can use Bixby, you'll need to sign in with your Samsung account if you haven't already. You will probably be asked to install an update before starting.

Once Bixby is ready to use, we will need the wake command to be enabled. Here's how you can take a screenshot without manually opening Bixby.

  • Open the Bixby app and tap the Menu icon in the upper left corner.
  • Select the gear icon to access Settings.
  • Turn on the switch for Voice Wake Up.
  • Bixby will guide you through the process of recognizing your voice.

Now all you have to do is say “Hi Bixby, take a screenshot” whenever you want to capture one.

The screen will flash and you get the usual floating toolbar for editing the screenshot. There are many methods for you to choose from to take screenshots on Samsung Galaxy devices. One of these methods should suit your habits perfectly.
