In this guide, we'll show you how install Samsung firmware using the Odin tool. Often people tend to wander to custom and root ROMs to add more features to the software. Well, it doesn't always work for everyone. Some may prefer the stability of the OEM software (Samsung Experience in this case) or its simplicity.
But it may take some time for this to happen. In any case, if you want to restore Samsung firmware, the process is quite simple. All you need is your phone, a PC, USB cable, stock ROM and the Odin tool.
Preparations
Before going to the steps for install Samsung firmware using the Odin tool, be sure to follow all the preparation steps.
1. Make a backup
In nearly all of our tutorials, we recommend that users make a full backup of their device before proceeding. This is because manual tweaking with phone software can often result in the loss of important data if done incorrectly. So, start with a full backup of your phone storage.
2. Installare i driver USB Samsung
To install Samsung stock firmware using Odin, you must first establish a proper connection between your Samsung Galaxy smartphone / tablet and your PC. If you have already installed Samsung Kies on your PC, make sure it is completely closed when using Odin. Kies often tends to disturb the connection of the phone with the Odin tool and thus could affect the intermediate process, which could also cause the phone to overheat. If you haven't installed the suitable drivers on your PC yet, you can easily download the standalone Samsung USB driver and install them.
3. Charge your Samsung device
Just before starting the process, make sure you charge your Samsung Galaxy device to at least 60% battery level. Because? You definitely don't want the device to shut down in the middle of the flashing process. Eventually it would become a brick or in a permanently "unrecoverable" state.
4. Download Odin Flash Tool
Finally, download thelatest version of the Odin tool. For some versions of the Android OS, you may need to download the recommended version as well. For example, Odin v1.85 for Gingerbread / ICS, Odin v3.09 for JellyBean / KitKat, etc. For any newer Android version like Nougat / Oreo, you can download the latest version of Odin v3.12.3.
5. Boot the Samsung Galaxy device into download mode
In almost all Android phones / tablets, the installation procedure is usually done in quick start / bootloader mode. But when it comes to Samsung Galaxy devices, it should reboot into download mode. The process is quite simple and unique on almost every major Samsung Galaxy device. It is slightly different for new devices like the Galaxy S8 / S8 +, Note 8, S9 / S9 +.
First, turn off the phone completely. Next, hold down the key Volume down + Home + Power simultaneously for older Galaxy devices with capacitive buttons. For newer phones, press and hold the key volume Down + Bixby + Power. Continue holding the buttons for 3-5 seconds. When the warning screen appears, simply press the Volume Up key to enter the download mode.

Do not download a firmware for different device / variant / carrier. Only compatible flash firmware explicitly meant for your Samsung Galaxy device.
How to install Samsung firmware
- Download the Samsung firmware (* .zip) for the device.
- Extract the downloaded firmware ZIP file to an easily accessible location on your PC.
- The extracted firmware files should be in the format '.tar' or '. Tar.md5'.
- Extract the ZIP Odin (e.g. Odin3_v3.13.1.zip) to an easily accessible location on your PC.
- Open the extracted folder (eg Odin3 v3.13.1) and double click on the file " Odin3.exe ".
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy device to the PC while it is in download mode.
- The COM port should light up in the Odin window.
- Click the “AP” button and select the firmware file starting with AP.
- Do the same for "BL", "CP" and "CSC".
- Please note that the normal CSC file will completely wipe the device. To preserve the data, simply select the “HOME_CSC” file.
- Make sure that 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' are selected in the 'Options' tab. Leave everything else as it is.
- When everything is ready, click the “Start” button to install the Samsung firmware on your Galaxy device.
- The flashing process will take a few minutes to complete.
When finished, you will see the message 'PASS!' and the device will restart automatically. After that, you can disconnect the phone and close the Odin window. Once your Samsung Galaxy device has booted, perform the initial setup by following the on-screen instructions. You can follow the troubleshooting section further in case you encounter problems updating the firmware on your Samsung.
Troubleshooting
- The device is not detected by Odin / the COM port does not lighten. Make sure you have disabled Kies and installed the Samsung USB drivers correctly. If that still doesn't work, try using a different cable or switching between the USB ports on your PC.
- You see a 'FAIL!' message in Odin - This could be due to multiple reasons. You may not be using the correct firmware / Odin tool, or the USB connection may be faulty. Just force the device to stop and follow the procedure from step 1.
- The device enters a bootloop / does not go beyond the Samsung logo - In case the device goes into bootloop after installation or any other misbehavior of the software, just reboot into recovery and perform a factory data reset. To do this, turn off the device first. Then hold the Volume Up + Home / Bixby + keys for a few seconds. On the “No command” screen, press and hold the Power button and tap the Volume Up key once. Once the reset is complete, select the “Wipe data / factory reset” button and confirm.
