How to fix the “No service” or “Emergency calls only” error on Google Pixel 3 XL

This post highlights potential solutions to a common problem on Android devices, specifically the Google Pixel 3 XL. These solutions are used to solve the problem only in emergency calls, often associated with a No Service error.

If you have encountered this same error on the same Google phone, this post will help you. Read on to find out what to do if the Google Pixel 3 XL requires No Service or Emergency Calls Only on the status bar.

Troubleshooting Pixel 3 XL without service errors

Before running the troubleshooter, check other phones and see if they show the same network status label. The emergency call only error usually indicates that the device is not receiving a signal from the network and therefore can only process emergency calls at the moment.

the signal strength is strong but the phone shows the error Emergency Calls Only or No Service, bypass the software related triggers by performing the following procedures.

First solution: restart your phone to fix service errors

Random system errors sometimes affect cell phone connection and services. If the Emergency Calls Only error just popped up without making any changes to your phone settings, it's likely just a random problem that can be easily remedied by restarting your device.

Restarting the Google Pixel 3 XL also updates the internal memory and eliminates minor system errors and network problems. Here's how to do it:

  1. Press and hold the power button until it turns off for a few seconds.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then hold held down again the power button till at power up of the phone.

If normal reset did not solve the problem, clearing the cache may have positive results. Corrupted network caches accumulated on the telephone system could be the main trigger and therefore must be eliminated. To wipe cache partition on Google Pixel 3 XL, please refer to these steps:

  1. Press and hold the button di power on for a few seconds until the phone turns off.

  4. Press one of the volume buttons to navigate through the options.
  5. Select the recovery mode pressing the power button.
  6. Press and hold the button   di power on for a few seconds when the Android logo is displayed.
  7. Keep pressing the power button, then press and hold the increase button of volume . Release them after three seconds.
  8. Press one of the volume buttons to navigate the recovery menu.
  9. Press the power button after highlighting the wipe cache partition .
  10. Push the button Volume down to highlight Yup.
  11. Press the button di power on to confirm.
  12. Once done, highlight Restart now then press the power button

The phone will then start rebooting. As soon as it starts up, check and see if the no service or emergency call error is gone.

Second solution: replace the SIM card

No service, just emergency calls and other relevant errors can also be attributed to SIM card problems such as SIM card being loosened or moved and SIM card damaged or faulty. To solve the problem, it is recommended to reinstall the SIM card. This will require you to remove and reposition the SIM card on your Google Pixel 3 XL. Here's how to do it:

  1. Turn off your phone completely.
  2. Insert the SIM ejector into the small hole on the SIM card tray.
  3. Gently push the eject tool until the tray ejects.
  4. Pull out the SIM card tray, then remove the SIM from the SIM card slot.
  5. Check the SIM card for any signs of damage. If it looks fine, put it back into the card slot in the same position before removing it.
  6. Secure the SIM card, then put the tray back into the phone.
  7. Lock the SIM card tray in place, then turn on the phone.

See if the no assistance or emergency calls error disappears only after the phone restarts. If the error persists, try the next method.

Third solution: reset the network settings

Resetting the network settings will delete all current network settings on the Google Pixel 3 XL and restore the default settings. Network-related errors, especially those attributed to an invalid network configuration on the phone, are then corrected.

Issues related to signals are also resolved, including those represented by an error or emergency calls only. Here's how to do it:

  1. Access the Settings from main menu.
  2. Scroll down then select System.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Select Reset options
  5. Select Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile and Bluetooth.
  6. touches on Reset settings.
  7. Once prompted, enter the device lock code.
  8. Tap again Reset settings.

The phone should automatically reboot after the reset is complete. If not, you need to enable it to reboot so that all recent changes to network settings are implemented correctly.

After restarting, enable the necessary network features and services so that you can use them on your device again. See if this also resolves the no-service or emergency calling error.

Fourth solution: use safe mode on downloaded apps

Downloaded apps may cause conflicts with pre-installed apps on Google Pixel 3 XL. It is possible that the one you downloaded has some error and may be causing the problem. Safe mode will suspend all downloaded apps and run pre-installed apps. To run Safe Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the power button.
  2. Touch and hold lo Switch off ready on your screen.
  3. Select OKAY.

When the label is displayed Safe mode at the bottom of the screen, indicates that the device is already running in safe mode. See if the no-assistance or emergency calls error is gone

Third-party apps and services are temporarily disabled in this state, so you won't be able to use them unless you exit Safe Mode.

Fifth solution: factory reset on Google Pixel 3 XL

If your Google Pixel 3 XL still does not receive any service errors or the emergency call error up to this point, it is likely due to some complex system errors, particularly on the network system. At this point, you might consider resorting to a factory reset or master reset on your Galaxy Pixel 3 XL.

Performing a hard reset or factory reset will fix major firmware issues caused by complex errors and system data corruption on your phone.
