  2. When you connect your Android to PC via the USB cable, you will see a USB connection notification in the Android notification area. Tap the notification, then tap Transfer files.

  1. Install AirDroid from Google Play on your Android device.
  2. Open the app and enable the features you plan to use. You may need to create a new AirDroid account if this is your first time using the app. Some features, such as remote control of the Android screen, require root access to the device. Also, some features are disabled if you don't purchase the Premium version.
  3. Go to AirDroid Web and log into the same account you created above.
  4. Once connected, you will see the main dashboard. On the right, you'll see a toolbox with a summary of your phone's memory information. On the left, you will see all the apps that allow you to control your phone.
  5. Select the Files app to browse files on your phone and you can transfer them back and forth.
  6. Select the Messages app to review messages stored on your phone or to start a new SMS session with anyone in your contact list.
  7. You can even use the Camera app to remotely view and control the camera on your Android phone.

How to connect smartphone to PC via Bluetooth

If you just need to connect an Android phone to your PC to transfer files, bluetooth is an excellent option because it requires no wires and transfers are quick and easy.

  1. Make sure bluetooth is turned on on both your Android device and your computer. Once activated on both, you will see the computer appear on your Android as an available device to pair.
  2. Tap this device to pair it. You should see a pair code on both your PC and your Android device. Touch Associate to complete the connection.

Your Phone app is ideal for those situations when you have forgotten your phone at home. From your laptop, you can still see all the messages and notifications that you might have otherwise missed.

  1. Install the Microsoft Your Phone app from Google Play on your Android. You will need to accept all required security permissions.
  2. Install the Your phone app from the Microsoft Store on your Windows 10 PC.
  3. Launch the Phone app on your computer and select Android as the type of phone you want to connect to. Then select Start.
  4. Your computer will connect to your Android phone. Select Gallery from the left panel to view all the photos on your phone.
  5. Select Messages to view messages or send and receive new messages from your computer via your android phone.
  6. Select Notifications to view all recent notifications on your Android phone.
