Horizon Zero Dawn: Guerrilla is planning a trilogy

Horizon Zero Dawn: Guerrilla is planning a trilogy

Good news for all fans of the famous exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn. As was known, Guerrilla Games has always been convinced in wanting to deliver to Sony a trilogy but, although a first draft of the screenplay had already been written, the company wanted to wait for the figure related to the number of sales. Needless to say, however, the software house's most ambitious title was literally a commercial success, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Now that it is very close to the release of PlayStation 5 we begin to talk about a sequel and, today, the first unofficial information related to the expected title begins to emerge.

It is said that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 has a "gigantic" reach, with a larger game world and greater freedom of exploration than its predecessor. There is also talk of a cooperative mode, even if the inclusion of this specific function is not very clear. Apparently Guerrilla was planning to release a standalone cooperative title, with the advances that would affect the main story.

Co-op mode is a feature that Guerrilla has been intending to introduce to the series for some time, since it was also to be part of the first chapter, however then the final decision turned out to be another, but Sony seems to agree to include it in this new chapter.

To corroborate the thesis of the trilogy there are the comics that will come out in the summer, which in all probability will go to connect to the sequel, and the search for new staff. We also remember that in 2017 the then president of PlayStation America Shawn Layden confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn was a franchise that Sony intended to exploit in the future as well. The co-founder of Guerrilla, Herman Hulst, already has a roadmap on the game in mind, and this one develops over several years. In his own words "I think we will be in the industry with Horizon for a long time." If you're worried that the game will change direction don't worry, as according to Hulst, who was recently promoted to head of the global PlayStation studios, Sony will remain strongly committed to creating story-based and character-based games.

Internally, however, it is believed that this type of experiences ideally integrate a successful multiplayer mode, which however are developed and supported by third-party studies. That's all for now, we remind you that this information is to be taken with a grain of salt, since Sony itself has not yet communicated anything official.
