The first stars light up the evening. In the distance, a bonfire of some brave cowboys encamped in the vegetation glows fiercely. The last part of our journey to discover the videogames set in the Wild West it is here and awaits you. Let your horse rest, light a fire and rest your head on the saddle that has now been removed from your steed. Enjoy the reading! (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4).

    Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (2005)

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is a sci-fi shooter that is part of the Oddworld saga. The title was released in 2005, originally on Xbox, and then reached PC, PlayStation 2, PS Vita and mobile devices over the years. Stranger's Wrath is among the first titles in the series to show streets full of citizens who seem to lead their own private lives and, unlike the other chapters of the series, here the action component is much more marked.

    Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge (2006)

Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, unlike the title that precedes it on this list, it is heavily devoted to stealth action and was developed by Spellbound Enetertainment AG in 2006 for PC. This is the direct sequel to Desperados: Wanted or Alive, already covered in this long special. In this chapter, Hawkeye joins the cast, replacing the character Mia.

    Wild Arms 5 (2006)

Fifth chapter of the saga Wild Arms, the title celebrated the 505th anniversary of the series by inserting various cameos of the characters known in the previous chapters. It was released by XSEED Games and 2006 Games in 2 for PlayStation 2008. In Europe, however, it only came out in February XNUMX.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (2009)

Another round in the Wild West, another first person shooter. This title was released for PC, Ps3 and Xbox 360 in 2009 by Techland, For Ubisoft. Bound in Blood is the prequel to Call of Juarez, set 20 years earlier. In 2011 it will be followed by Call of Juarez: The Cartel. The game tells the story of the three brothers McCall, Raymond, Thomas and William (the only one, of the three, who cannot be controlled in game).

    Red Dead Redemption (2010)

Well, there we are. Are introductions needed? To tell you the truth, maybe yes, because not everyone has yet understood that this legendary game is the sequel to Red Dead Revolver. RDR was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is, in short, a Grand Theft Auto set in the Wild West (this should be enough to get you back the title if you haven't played it yet). Here the events of John Marston, which we will find (younger) in Red Dead Redemption 2 (October 26). It is the largest video game (in every sense) dedicated to the Old West. At least until October 26th of this year, you will not find better!

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West (2010)

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is a third person online shooter developed by Fatshark and released in 2010 for PC and PlayStation 3 by Paradox Interactive. An Xbox Live Arcade version was also announced, but was later canceled. Several classes of gunslingers and six different game modes failed to win over the players, however, for a title that vanished fairly soon in the sands of a western prairie desert, despite the good ratings obtained by the trade press.

    The Gunstringer (2011)

The Gunstringer is a third person shooter on "rails" developed by Twisted Pixel Games and published by Microsoft Studios for Xbox 360 with Kinect support. It was released in 2011 in Europe and North America. The peculiarity of this title is that the protagonists "act", as if they were on a theatrical stage. The story tells of an undead puppet sheriff betrayed by his lineage. His name? Gunstringer, in fact!

Call of Juarez: The Cartel (2011)

Call of Juarez: The Cartel it is the third episode of the series and, unlike the previous episodes, it is not exactly set in the “Wild West”, although it still maintains its style, in a certain way. Players will take on the role of three policemen in order to track down and kill a drug dealer known by the name of Juan Mendoza.

    Gunman Clive (2012)

Among the titles of this special to boast perhaps the most original graphic aspect, Gunman Clive was released for PC, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Android mobile devices in 2012 by Horberg Productions e Flyhigh Works. It is a side-scrolling action game set in the 1800s where players take control of Gunman Clive within 16 well-designed levels of gameplay, traps and shootings, strictly in orange. Take a ride, it's fun!

    Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (2013)

Well, that's it. The last title of this long special divided into 5 parts. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is the latest western-themed title to be released. In a few hours (October 26) Red Dead Redemption 2 will continue the history of videogames dedicated to the Wild West. Gunslinger was developed by Techland e Ubisoft for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013. The title is set in 1910 and tells the story of Silas Greaves who, entering a Saloon, begins to tell adventures…

Thank you for joining us on this long journey! Now get back in the saddle, and ride towards October 26th, when, in all likelihood, Rockstar Games will revolutionize the gaming world - once again - with Red Dead Redemption 2. Adiós, gringos!
