Over the last few hours HBO e BBC One they renewed the drama series His Dark Materials, for a third season, after the extraordinary success of previous seasons. The show is based on the eponymous trilogy of fantasy novels written by Philip Pullman which includes within it The Golden Compass (known as Northern Lights in the United States), The thin blade (The Subtle Knife) e The amber telescope (The Amber Spyglass). Considering the fact that the entire story unfolds within three novels, it seems that the television adaptation should also only have three seasons. Indeed, the upcoming season, production of which is expected to begin in the course of 2021, could close the television trilogy, thus putting a point to the incredible events of Lyra Belacqua. Bringing Phillip Pullman's epic, intricate and culturally resonant work to television has been a tremendous privilege for us all. Also for this we find ourselves thanking our fantastic partners from the BBC and the entire Bad Wolf team, led by Jane Tranter, for the incredible work done for the realization of the first two seasons. We can't wait to complete the trilogy with this final chapter, to finally be able to tell the ending of Lyra's journey.
His Dark Materials' third season will see a return to the cast of Dafne Keen in the role of Lyra Belacqua, Ruth Wilson in the role of Mrs. Coulter, Amir Wilson in Will Parry's, Ariyon Bakare in that of Lord Carlo Boreal, Will Keen in those of Father Hugh MacPhail, Ruta Gedmintas in the role of Serafina Pekkala, Lin-Manuel Miranda in those of Lee Scoresby, Nina Sosanya in those of Elaine Parry, Simone Kirby in those of Dr. Mary Malone e Andrew Scott in those of John Parry. We just have to wait for more information about the third and final season of His Dark Materials.
