Niantic announced Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, his next licensed game after his success with Pokémon Go. A co-production with the publisher Portkey Games of Harry Potter, the mobile game will allow players to venture into the real world as wizards and witches, casting spells and completing special challenges to protect the wizarding world from the eyes of Muggles.
Here's how Niantic describes the underlying storyline of Wizards Unite, where players are members of a task force called the Statute of Secrecy, which is a group that works to protect the Ministry of Magic law that wizards cannot tell Muggles that magic really exists.
“A calamity has struck the wizarding world revealing artifacts, creatures, people and even memories of wizards in the Muggle world. Witches and wizards from all over the world must come together to solve the mystery of the Calamity, overcome the confusing chaotic magic that surrounds these "Foundables" and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes. Your journey begins as a new recruit to the "Statute of Secrecy Task Force," established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing the Calamity. "
