Halo: Bungie has decided to close the old website dedicated to the game

It is the end of an era. Bungie announced that next month will permanently shut down the Halo website. The fateful date will be February 9 2021, until then players will have the ability to save their stats, files and more, before being deleted once and for all. It is worth noting that the US software house had already started migrating some articles, forums and groups to Bungie.net in 2013. We report below the words of Dylan Gafner, community manager of the company:

On February 9, the halo.bungie.net site will be permanently offline. Everyone is welcome to save their stats and files, however they can if they wish to save something. Please note that our news articles, forums and groups were imported into the current version of Bungie.net in 2013.

The site has not been updated for nine years, so the decision to close halo.bungie.net should not cause any problems for gamers, as they still have two weeks to save their content before being permanently deleted. We remind you that the last title dedicated to the famous Master Chief made by Bungie is Halo Reach, of 2010. The news just released by Dylan Gafner comes not long after 343 Industries' decision to discontinue support to online services for the entire franchise on Xbox 360, by December 2021.

Furthermore, the guys from the American software house have specified in the very long press release that they are intentionally moving slowly and with its own multiphase approach to provide its users with ample notice and that in the coming months there will be further updates. Waiting to find out more details on the story, we remind you that the next title starring the iconic Master Chief will be Halo Infinite, although at the moment no official release date has been announced, after the postponement communicated in recent months.
