In a recent video posted on YouTube by the dataminer and reporter of Valve, Tyler McVicker, the recent changes to a signed project are outlined Valve VR known as Citadel. The new code is related to Half-Life: Alyx and it could be the sequel. Part of the information concerns the possible addition of new melee attacks and some changes implemented to the use of grenades.
Tyler McVicker states in the video, which awaits you on the cover, that HLX is a brand new codename and is based on the framework originally built and dedicated to Half-Life: Alyx. The latter was published on March 23 for Windows PC and Linux. The penultimate chapter of the series, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, was released in 2007 (yes, the series hadn't been on the scene for a long time). McVicker further states that they appear to be there two teams at work on this likely sequel to Alyx and both would be focused on developing new content based on the Virtual reality. The gameplay sector should therefore be an improved and expanded version of the first Alyx.
Last January 20 Gabe Newell Valve unveiled the company's future plans after the success of Half-Life: Alyx, stating:
We absolutely have video games in development and that we're going to announce, it's fun to release video games. Alyx was great, it was nice to go back to making single-player video games, she created a positive wave within the company to want to do more.
Half-Life: Alyx is set five years before the events narrated in the second chapter. Alyx ventures into the quarantine zone outside the City 17 for the purpose of intercepting a transporting train Eli. Along the way Alyx will meet Vortigaunt, a mysterious individual who alludes to the possible premature death of Eli Vance in the immediate future. The writing of Half-Life: Alyx was entrusted to Jay Pinkerton, Sean Vanaman ed Erik Wolpaw, with the precious advice of Marc Laidlaw, who wrote the first chapters of the series.
