GTA 5 shows no signs of stopping and exceeds 140 million copies sold

The fifth chapter of the saga of Grand Theft Auto, famous product of the development house Rockstar Games, it continues to sell exceptionally well. The manufacturing company Take-Two Interactive announced that sales of GTA 5 reached more than 140 million copies sold in total, further stating that 2020 was the most successful year for the game, in which the highest number of copies were sold, not counting 2013, the year in which it was launched for the first time on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Although the title was already released 7 years ago, GTA 5 continues to be on the crest of the wave, without even showing signs of abating. The Take-Two Interactive CEO Straus Zelnick, during a conference call in recent days, saying the following:

There is perhaps no experience in the history of the entertainment industry more loved, broader, more critically acclaimed and more successful than Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto. GTA V remains one of the most iconic titles ever released and continues to exceed our expectations, having sold over 140 million units.

Furthermore, interesting developments regarding the arrival of GTA 5 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S, the new consoles Sony e Microsoft products. The title will thus have a much better level of performance, as Zelnick said, always during the conference that took place on call:

Furthermore, During the second half of the 2021 calendar, Rockstar Games will bring the smash hit Grand Theft Auto V to the latest generation of consoles. The new version will feature a number of technical improvements, visual updates and performance improvements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game look better and more responsive than ever.

Given the numbers that still manages to reach the fifth chapter of GTA, it is difficult to think that Take-Two is in a hurry to propose a sixth chapter, risking to undermine the revenues of its predecessor. We will therefore see what other news will bring 2021 and if there will be any interesting official announcements for the works of Rockstar Games.
