During an AMA session on Reddit, Andrey Doronichev, the spokesperson for Google, revealed that at the launch of Google Stadia you will need a smartphone to be able to buy games from the online store and start the service setup. In fact, at least for the first few periods, the purchase of games for Google Stadia will necessarily have to go through a smartphone Android or iOS via the app available on App Store e Google Play.
“You won't need to use your smartphone every time, but a mobile device is required for the initial setup phase and for purchasing the games. Once the first connection is made, just take the controller and press the Stadia button to enter a new world. "
Unfortunately, the iOS app - released only a few hours ago - seems not to work properly so that some testers are experiencing various problems with the setup and purchase of games. We also know that at the moment it is not possible to use Apple devices to be able to play streaming and nor when this service will be released in the future.

Family Sharing isn't going to work at launch for Stadia. The team recommends just going ahead and buying a second version of that $ 60 game so your kid can play on their account, and then eventually you'll be able to share other games.
