Google Stadia: Digital Foundry analysis shows the uncertainties of the service

Google Stadia has now been officially released on November 19th, at least for those who bought the Founder's Edition containing the exclusive controller and the Chromecast Ultra. This is a rather innovative service, which in its announcement and communication phase unfortunately had to undergo several compromises, which Google has undertaken to resolve over time. To clarify all doubts regarding the offer, or at least those related to the purely technical part, Digital Foundry has released its detailed and precise analysis, containing the strengths and weaknesses of Google Stadia.

4 titles were tested: Destiny 2, Mortal Kombat 11, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and exclusivity Gylt. All benchmarks were compared against Xbox One X's performance on the same titles, given that it is the most powerful console in circulation and given that comparing performance with gaming PCs would have had obvious results.

Summarizing what emerged out of these gaming sessions we can tell you that the service certainly has compromises on the technical side, but it has not behaved as badly as one might imagine. It should be noted that for all tests a 200mbs internet connection was used, which is now becoming more and more common.

It seems like the service of Google allows a streaming with a fairly good quality, which is clearly close to that of the flagship console of Microsoft products. The real problem therefore lies in the input lag, which increases heavily given the need to go through the internet. Although in some titles it seems you can even not feel it, this becomes present and oppressive for some particular cases such as fighting games, which require a much more important responsiveness than shown.

Hoping that Google Stadia can improve over time in all its most controversial aspects, such as the securities sector, in the meantime we refer you to our article regarding the addition of 10 new games to the service.
