Google announces Stadia, the new platform designed for all gamers

During the GDC 2019, Sundar Pichai took the stage to announce Stadia, the first and new platform dedicated to Google gaming. Defined as the platform for everyone, it will be based on video game streaming and will bring AAA titles in high quality via low latency internet connection.

The idea is to merge players, spectators and developers into a platform designed for everyone, capable of bringing everything together under the wing of Google's best technologies. The video game market is getting bigger, but the world of those who love to play, those who love to see and those who love to create these products are very separate. For this Google wants to bring everything together under the called wing Stadia.

You can instantly play the available games without patches, downloads or other: just click on the link or on the Youtube video to play immediately. The games will run at maximum quality regardless of the platform. At launch it will be possible to play on PCs, Laptops, Tablets, TVs and Smartphones without problems (in the case of the TV, a ChromeCast 4K will suffice).

The games will be playable via the Stadia controller, available in three colors and connectable via wireless. The controller will also have the ability to insert a pair of headphones directly via the 3,5mm jack and will be able to use Google Assistant. At launch, the service will be able to stream games up to 4K, 60 FPS and HDR, but the goal of the future is 120 FPS and 8K definition.

One of the really interesting things seems to be the service offered to developers: they can no longer rely on the limitations given by the consoles, but on those of Google, which are really high. Going to see the power that the service will be able to deliver, we find a 10.8 tera GPU (higher than the sum of Ps4 Pro and Xbox One X), 56 computing units, HBM2 memory.

For the CPU we find a 86 GHz custom x2.6 processor, Hyperthreading and AVX2, while the RAM settles on 16 GB.
