Golf With Your Friends - Review, 50 Shades of Golf

It has been 4 years since Golf With Your Friends made its first appearance on Steam in early access mode, and during that time frame Team17 e Blacklight Interactive they managed to progressively enrich their product with various innovations and with updates each time aimed at solving the various problems. Although the gestation was long, this mini golf game is finally ready to go out on the shelves, but not only on PC via Steam, in fact even the owners of the three major current generation consoles will be able to use the product: PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch (the latter is the version we tested). With this cool and fun title, Team 17 asserts itself as one of the most prolific companies in offering titles suitable for all ages, which mainly involve more than one player between local and online multiplayer.

Poor Caddy!

Tracing some of the most classic features of the various golf games proposed over time, Golf With Your Friends, try to use variety as an ace in the hole. It goes without saying that many of its features at first glance may seem seen and revised, but if you start directly with a game in classic mode you are only scratching the tip of a giant iceberg. In a game of this kind, the greatest mission to accomplish is indeed that of do not create the clone of games that already existi, especially in a category that is in some ways already saturated.

Here is where the Blacklight decide to give us a truly sparkling potpourri of arenas, modes and gadgets, capable of both having fun and making us swear. This huge variety of content will be experienced by the player as he is tossed left and right in the various scenarios, from the quiet forest to the sunny desert oasis, from the haunted house to the warrior battlefield of Worms. There are more than ten crazy locations among which we will untangle ourselves, with 18 holes each in which to try our hand at traps, puddles, obstacles ... or explosive sheep.

However, curb your optimism ... the challenges will not be so predictable, especially if you try your hand at various modes proposals, where the classic mini golf (now too backward according to the developers, but still present) is mixed with other sports, creating all new games! Here you will find yourself blowing the ball to make a basket, playing with a hockey puck, or exploiting the Party mode, with power-ups and crazy skills to make your battles chaotic. Even in the classic mode, however, some features introduced are very interesting, such as getting a jetpack to climb to the top in certain holes, or the ability to jump on the water.

12 o 'clock

Golf With Your Friends it therefore lends itself perfectly to being an excellent party game to play with friends and family locally, but also to test one's skills online, with in both cases a maximum of 12 players per game! After customizing your ball in the color and enriching it with unlockable aesthetics (such as skins, hats and more), you can set the different variables and rules for the game, and then get to the moment in which to throw ourselves into the fray. The initial single loading is highly appreciated, which even if long will force us to wait only a few seconds between one hole and another while we check our progress and the ranking, with the entire map at your eye and all the holes close to each other while we are in game . Yeah, the areas will look like real playgrounds… or a space station?

With controls that are easy to understand and master, imagination and cunning will be essential to get the better of you ... even if the camera is not perfect and some small bugs also related to it will not make your life too easy. The graphics sector is very appreciable, which without anything to expect frames the game very well, whether you want to relax or have fun. Finally, a good dose of gratitude for the completion should also be emphasized location of the game, which will allow anyone to interface with it in the best possible way, from the oldest to the youngest.
