Between surprises and unspoken expectations, they were assigned on the night of Sunday 6 January 2019 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles the prestigious ones Golden Globe Award. The evening, hosted by comedian Andy Samberg and actress Sandra Oh (also winner, during the ceremony, as Best Actress in a Drama Series for Killin Eve), was dotted with alternating moments: between unexpected surprises, trivial choices, inspired sketches and the usual moments of timeless boredom.
The protagonists of the awards ceremony were (surprisingly) Green Book by Peter Fallery, with three awards including Best Comedy Picture, and (expected) Roma by Alfonso Cuaròn, winner of the award for Best Director and Best Foreign Film, but betrayingly deprived of the nomination for Best Drama Film. In this regard, the choice of Bohemian Rhapsody for Best Drama Film, whose only strong point was (on balance) the performance of Rami Malek as the legendary Freddie Mercury, awarded (again with reservations) as Best Drama Actor. A Star is Born is satisfied with the award for the best song, while La Favorita by Yorgos Lanthimos only wins Best Comedy Actress (Olivia Colman).
For television, Netflix makes itself felt at the Hollywood Foreign Press with The Kominski Method, which wins Best Comedy Series and Comedy Actor (Michael Douglas). The Americans, with his last season, he definitively rises to the Olympus of great television, winning Best Drama Series (but not actor to Matthew Rhys, in whose place Richard Madden is awarded for his performance in The Bodyguard). Ryan Murphy is confirmed as one of the most popular showrunners on the world scene e The assassination of Gianni Versace - American Crime Story wins two awards including Best Mini-series.
For the first time, the award for television excellence nominated to was awarded Carol Brunett, which is also the first recipient of the prestigious newborn recognition, while his dudeness Jeff Bridges he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate an extraordinary career spanning almost 70 years in cinema and television.
