Gamescom Legends 2018: here are the awards from the editors of Resources4Gaming

La Gamescom 2018 ended in Cologne, and we can finally sum up what we liked about the event. Between games and peripherals, let's discover the Resources4Gaming awards for this edition of Gamescom!

Best Announcement: The Dark Picture Anthology - Man of Medan

During the showcase of Namco Bandai, among the many announcements made by the house, The Dark Picture Anthology caught our attention. This anthological series, based on urban urban legends, will be developed by Supermassive Games, creators of Until Dawn, for Ps4, Xbox One and PC. Man of Medan it will be the first adventure and already sees a cast of prominent actors, a gameplay based on quick and easy choices (but at the same time morally difficult) and many jumpscare.

Most anticipated title: Cyberpunk 2077

There is nothing to do: in this Gamescom 2018 he wins hands down cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red. With 45 minutes of hands-off we saw a small excerpt of a game that could without problems revolutionize the way of developing, thanks to courageous choices that could make the title a milestone not only of its genre, but of the entire video game.

Best Gameplay: Kingdom Hearts 3

Dynamic, fluid, rhythmic, deep and adrenaline-pumping. All this reflects Kingdom Hearts III. The license plate work Square Enix we were surprised by the attention to detail and diversification given to the move set of each weapon wielded by Sora. If we also add spells, moves combined with the other members of the party, attraction flow and summons, the result is a combat system so varied that it can satisfy any type of player. The mobility of the protagonist is also impressive, being able to move vertically on the walls and reach apparently inaccessible areas.

Best Comeback: Destiny 2 - Forsaken

With Forsaken, Destiny 2 sets the record straight: we know how to reinvent ourselves, we know how to innovate and we do it great. A plot twist of plot, combined with a hybrid PVP-PVE mode make this new DLC a welcome comeback from the game which, after the success of the first chapter, is still struggling to take off definitively. The work of Bungie in the last period he has focused mainly on listening to the community, bringing back key features of the first chapter of the brand, and refreshing other traits that were still out of tune.

Surprise of the year: Starlink

The surprise of the year is undoubtedly Starlink di Ubisoft: five years of development for a truly complex toys-to-life, capable of mixing fun for the little ones together with a deep and articulated gameplay for the older ones. In fact, the game has an extraordinary longevity for titles of the same genre, and a degree of difficulty much more oriented towards an age group different from that of games like Skylanders.

Best Unexpected Title: Remnant From The Ashes

The surprise that a fair can give you most of all is the discovery of something new. It was like that for Remnant: From The Ashes, title of Arc Games with a survival flavor, it took us on a journey into a free game world created to have fun. From the creators of Darksiders III, the game has literally amazed us, and for sure we'll be back to talk about it.

Best Showfloor: Blizzard

Enter the pavilion where the Blizzard it's always the best: giant stands, scaffolding with 1: 1-sized statues of our favorite heroes and playstations worthy of the name. Each area was located in a spectacular setting: it was possible to try Diablo III Eternal Collection on Switch, play a Hearthstone Fireside, compete in Overwatch or see the new expansion of World of Warcraft. Furthermore, for each experience, there was a gadget for the fans as a gift. If you combine this with the Blizzard store in Hall 5, they have undoubtedly managed to create something amazing again this year.

Best Return: Devil May Cry V

Dante is back, finally. With him also Nero, revisited to be suitable for the leading role. This turnaround by Capcom it makes us understand how DmC did not have the right success, and how the charismatic son of Sparda is still popular, both by old players and by new generations. The gameplay has obviously been updated, but it keeps all the trappings of the case to define itself as a chapter of Devil May Cry.
