[Gamescom 2018] Close to the Sun - Tested the new Storm in a Teacup title

[Gamescom 2018] Close to the Sun - Tested the new Storm in a Teacup title

During the Gamescom in Cologne 2018 that is taking place in these hours, we had the opportunity to get our hands on the new work of the guys from Storm in a Teacup, 100% independent development studio: Close to the Sun, a first-person horror set in an alternative version from the distant 1890s when Nikola Tesla had reached the pinnacle of his career. We are on a ship built by Tesla himself to house all the greatest minds in the world but, from what we can immediately see, something must have gone wrong.

We got to play the first half hour of the game, and we can assure you that it is an intriguing title, the setting is very reminiscent of Bioshock, thanks to claustrophobic spaces and a permanent absence of light that will always leave us with bated breath. The gameplay is very basic, but that doesn't mean uninteresting, we are not in front of a walking simulator in which we would be at the mercy of events without being able to "do" much, but we will immediately get involved in some simple puzzles that will probably become more and more present and complicated as the game progresses.

During our rehearsal we interpreted Pink, the protagonist of Close to the Sun, in search of her sister who is most likely on Tesla's ship. As we can immediately guess, the game will make us sweat cold: once we enter the ship we will immediately experience a feeling of anxiety, like a presence that accompanies us at every step we take. We will not go into further details to avoid important plot-level spoilers but we can say that in all probability will be more than interesting for fans of the genre.

The title was developed with the help of U, this is obviously a non-definitive build but we were faced with a more than solid title despite some small drop in frames or a slight slowness in loading some textures, nothing serious in short that in all probability will be solved before the arrival of Close to the Sun on the shelves expected for the 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
