Il Gamecube is remembered very well by the ranks of fans of Nintendo and not only that, given that it has offered a range of first and respectable third parties despite a rather short life span. Titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Luigi's Mansion, F-Zero GX, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness, Vietifwul Joe, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Killer7 ... All products considered, by fans of the sector, including best video games ever released throughout the history of gaming.
Unfortunately the platform it wasn't exactly a great commercial success, with sales of less than 22 million units unlike the next Wii or the current Switch. Maybe that's why Nintendo was thinking of one portable version of the Gamecube, probably to allow more players to test the line up of this platform. In fact, we learned about this project thanks to one of the recent leak interiors that the Japanese company has been undergoing in the last period. Inside it is shown a patent which shows it would be sold together with a dock to connect external controllers, a mini DVD player to read video games and many more.
Unfortunately the leak does not disclose further information about this project. We don't know how long it has been in the works, what the hypothesis of this product would have been or even when it should have been released. Possible that it is something anyway discarded almost immediately by Nintendo, probably because it is too expensive to build for the technologies offered in the hypothetical historical period we are talking about. Obviously, none of this has been confirmed, but seeing the different and recent leaks suffered by the company in question, it is likely that this too has at least some truth. While waiting to discover more curious details about Nintendo's dark past, we remind you that the aforementioned Super Mario Sunshine could appear in a collection for Switch very soon.
