Frogwares: Most titles removed from stores

Frogwares: Most titles removed from stores

It seems that the software house author of many titles, including The Sinking City that we have reviewed here, is sailing in dire straits. It is about Frogwares, famous for the title just mentioned and for the saga of Sherlock Holmes, which between ups and downs has always shown itself as a point of reference for investigative games. As is now known, most of the titles developed by the software house in question were published by Focus Home Interactive, which seems to have created particular controversies lately.

The contract signed by the famous publisher and independent developers recently ended after the agreed expiration date, but serious problems for Frogswares have unexpectedly arisen. Focus Home Interactive is in fact removing most of the titles from the PS4, Xbox One and Steam stores.

It seems, according to the words of Frogwares, that the publisher refused to return all the rights of the games to the developer once the agreement ended, despite the developer owning the intellectual property and creating the IPs. In the official statement it is also communicated that Frogswares is no longer currently earning revenue for its games published by Focus Home Interactive. Will independent developers be able to recover from this crisis? We can only hope that a new failure in the industry will be avoided as has already happened for Telltale Games.
