Although we still don't know anything official about it Final Fantasy XVI, we can safely imagine that, in effect, the sixteenth chapter of the iconic saga Square Enix is actually in development. As the arrival of the new consoles is imminent, more and more rumors are seeing the next final fantasy as one of the next gen launch titles.
Precisely for this reason, today, we want to talk to you about a series of rumor released on Reddit by the user Taichi_Aoki, who from what has been communicated seems to have come into possession of some "secret" information which should however be officially communicated shortly. Keep in mind, however, that at present what we will report does not see any type of confirmation from Square Enix, so take these details with due precautions.
Here is all the information disclosed:
- Square Enix has registered in this period the trademark of Final Fantasy XVI (Ex Project Sancta).
- The game's release date is far away but the project is huge. The development house, seeing the results of the entire series from Final Fantasy XII to XV, has decided to change the folklore of the series. The steampunk genre has not convinced the leaders of Square, which is why the new numbered chapter will be almost completely Fantasy.
- Development began in November 2018 and the post-production phase in April 2019. The creative director of this game is Mr. Yoshida, the latter has joined in the graces of Square for the great results obtained with Final Fantasy XIV.
- The key word of this chapter is “innovation”. The engine will be the new Unreal Engine 5 and the gameplay is a mix of Final Fantasy VII Remake, a Final Fantasy XIV development system and some small elements of strategic games.
- The protagonist will use ancient airships to explore the entire map which will naturally be open world. The protagonist was born in a huge citadel protected by the light of Sancta, the latter being the great gift of a mysterious deity who disappeared to save humanity from darkness. The Sancta barrier protects the villagers from monsters of all kinds. In this game, the Final Fantasy XV-style Ancient Temples will return but with a different purpose.
- A trailer will certainly be shown towards the end of the year, to warm up users after the release of the new consoles. However, Square Enix has not yet decided whether, instead, it is the case to show the movie during the summer festival, since this would divert attention from the current Final fantasy VII Remake.
