Even if it is a genre that is slowly getting back on its feet, the number of space shooters who have managed to break into the hearts of gamers, making very personal missteps here and there is not very high. One year after the candles have been extinguished from the PC version of the title, Evers Pace, the story driven roguelike of Rockfish Games also arrives on PlayStation 4 accompanied by a special edition called Stellar Edition, which also includes the DLC "Encounters" and the original score composed by Gero Oerlich. In the face of a successful Kickstarter campaign, the title of Michael Shade e Christian Lohr has been able to conquer the public for more than one feature, combining a disarming simplicity with more reasoned but at the same time functional game mechanics.

The initial plot is nothing particular, nor is it extremely verbose: in less than a minute we will pass from the short video that acts as the incipit, to the control of our shuttle. There is nothing to know about it, except that our Adam Roslin was drugged during an unjust imprisonment, subsequently managing to escape but with his memories blurred or erased. The initial surprise becomes even bigger when we immediately realize how the optimization for the Sony flagship controller was perfect: pad in the hand Everspace is easy to play, with a very fast gameplay learning curve to assimilate and a little less to "master". The main problem to be successful in the first few bars will be in any case the difficulty of the game adjusted slightly upwards (especially for the less accustomed to star battles) and a basic unpredictability that, with the procedural generation of the playing areas, always keeps the pace high.

Clearly increasing the challenge level is permadeath, which even if it is not damn punitive (with the upgrades collected during farming and grinding still available for the next game) will make us start over from zero.

In Everspace the camera will not be fixed: we will be able to choose ourselves to change the game view, also varying according to the challenges that the random system will make us face. There is an external third-person view, an external first-person view, and of course the classic one inside the cockpit. The arsenal at your disposal will also be of various kinds, varying the effectiveness of the weapons based on the enemies we are facing, with some of them that can only be annihilated after their shields are ineffective. Here then appear lasers, machine guns, and much more devastating rockets.

Even if your ability will be the master, there are some features to keep in mind that, in addition to killing enemies, will be indispensabili for the success of the mission and the resolution of the plot. In fact, we are talking about the collection of minerals in the various areas, of the crafting, the maintenance of our current shuttle, and of course the fuel; also keep an eye on the perks that you can acquire, and above all do it with knowledge of the facts, since they will be reset to death as opposed to the loot.

The style of play is personal, it always has been, and the boys of Rockfish Games they also meet users in this. In the title there are three types of shuttle, which you can "wear" in your image and likeness depending on your style of play. These are the armored shuttles, the fast shuttles, and the balanced ones: to dictate the displacement of the balance needle a marked relationship between maneuverability, resistance, shields, damage inflicted, the arsenal and so on. It goes without saying that their performance will also depend on how you play, and what your priorities are in battle: escape or resist damage? Destroy enemies right away or implement an elusive tactic to damage them little by little? To you the choice.
