Electronic Arts has canceled Gaia, a title never officially shown

Gaia, non-definitive codename first hinted at in 2015, it was a title not yet officially announced by Electronic Arts which, however, will never see the light again. In these five years, the information relating to the production of the work has been practically zero, except that it was a completely brand new franchise, defining it by the software house itself as a highly ambitious and innovative project, capable of putting the power and creativity in the hands of the gamer. Gaia is not the only title that Electronic Arts has decided to permanently cancel. In fact, in these hours, the official news arrived that Anthem Next, project that was supposed to relaunch the first Anthem work on next-generation consoles, has been officially canceled.

The publisher in question had to make some wise choices and, having been developing the Gaia very turbulent and practically restarted from scratch at a certain point in production, the company considered it no longer necessary to continue the work. John Reseburg, spokesperson for EA, stated that:

We have a large and robust pipeline of new content with over 35 new games at various levels of incubation and development.

Born as an action / adventure title in 2015, under the careful guidance of Jade Raymond, veteran gaming industry executive (supervisor of the Assassin's Creed series and Watch Dogs at Ubisoft) who has been entrusted with a new company called Motive, Gaia has really suffered an unfortunate commotion over the course of its production. The studio initially absorbed staff from the Montreal office and EA BioWare, which closed after poor work on Mass Effect: Andromeda. Later part of the Motive team was moved to work on Star Wars Battlefront II. In 2018, also absorbed the creative contacts of Star Wars Battlefront II, cultural clashes arose that led to various consequences including the expulsion of numerous workers. To date Motive is currently working on Star Wars Squadrons, the combat spaceship simulator released last fall.

More big news: EA has canceled Gaia, the new IP that the Motive studio had been developing for more than five years, sources tell Bloomberg. The game had gone through a lot of turbulence and at least one major reboot when its top directors left in 2018. https://t.co/zy728d0wes
