DualShock 4, everything you need to know

    DualShock 4, everything you need to know

    The technical characteristics of a console are very important, but an important component that is often overlooked is the controller.

    On February 20, 2013 the Playstation 4 was announced, showing some technical characteristics but not describing the shape of the console. Instead, they showed the controller, the DualShock 4, to the public and just today an informative video came out. Below is the information available so far.

    The DualShock 4 will be 162mm x 52mm x 98mm in size, and will weigh approximately 210g.

    It will keep the following functions:

    • PS button;
    • Gyroscope;
    • Accelerometer;
    • Directional darts;
    • Cross, circle, triangle and square buttons;
    • Two analog sticks, two buttons on the analog sticks;
    • 4 shoulder buttons, L1, L2, R1, R2;
    • MicroUSB charging input.

    The new features are:

    • Sensitivity of the analogs increased and the analogs moved a little lower;
    • Improved L2, R2 triggers;
    • The eight classic buttons return digital (as in the DualShock1, and no longer like the DualShock 2 and 3);
    • Colored motion sensor (similar to Move);
    • Touchpad with Multitouch function;
    • Integrated speaker;
    • Plug-in for headset;
    • Plug-in for expansions.

    Finally the pads will recharge even if the Ps4 is in standby. The buttons will be digital again, eliminating the pressure difference functionality, a feature used very little by programmers. The PS4 camera will be able to detect the DualShock 4 and the player holding it, so if in case the pad is passed to another player or the player moves and you are holding a split screen match, the split screen will it will reverse in order to make the current game more comfortable. There is also a rumor that the headset (headset and microphone) compatible with the new controller will be included in the Ps4 bundle.

    Well we look forward to seeing the console now! Meanwhile, below you will see the presentation video of the DualShock 4.
