Diana Rigg: the famous English actress of Game of Thrones has died

Like a bolt from the blue, suddenly, a blow to the heart for all the fans: he dies Diana Rigg, great English actress, who became famous for having been Lady Olenna in Game of Thrones. The actress says goodbye forever to the cinema: he leaves us at the age of 82 in his home in England. The tragic news was given by his agent who declares:

She died peacefully early this morning.

The family reserves privacy and preferred not to give further interviews regarding the sad event.

We remember Diana Rigg not only for having starred in the medieval fantasy saga of George RR Martin, but also for one of the roles that consecrated her to the world of cinema: Tracy Draco in "Agent 007 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service". The former "Bond Girl" won the podium of the most requested actresses of the 70s, but a decade earlier she had become famous for another film that started her actual career, we are talking about Emma Peel in The Avengers spy series. We remember the actress for having been the protagonist, playing herself, in an episode of the TV series EXTRAS, created by Ricky Gervais; and for having interpreted the Lady Winifred Gillyflower in Doctor Who, in the episode The Crimson Horror.

Diana Rigg has worked for television, film and theater, never stopping and ranking as one of the most productive actresses of recent years. The woman, however, has clashed with one of the roles that, especially today, has turned out to be among the most important of her career: Lady Olenna, or the famous Queen of Thorns, joined the cast of Game of Thrones from 2013 to 2017, for a total of 18 episodes. Lady Olenna still remains one of the most loved characters in the world community.

Mark Gatiss, writer of the episode “The Crimson Horror” and the series Sherlock, released a touching statement on Twitter:

It was my great joy and privilege to have known Diana Rigg. From three slightly hysterical months at the Old Vic in 'All About Mother' to writing The Crimson Horror for Diana and her wonderful daughter Rachael. Flinty, fearless, fabulous. There will never be another. RIP pic.twitter.com/2EGc4MVx0S

A true icon. I met her a couple of times in Game of Thrones. I once played Backgammon with her. She insulted me for beating her. She was great.
