Detroit: Become Human - Hands On of the new Quantic Dream game

Detroit: Become Human - Hands On of the new Quantic Dream game

After a gestation that really lasted longer than expected, finally on May 25 the last title developed by the team will arrive on our PlayStation 4 Quantic Dream, or Detroit: Become Human. Today the demo of the title was also released on the PlayStation Store, which allowed us to take stock one last time before the official publication of the game directed by David Cage. We had already tried the title firsthand last year at the Gamescom 2017, analyzing closely what is now Detroit's most famous scene. The free demo version played today puts us in front of the same scene, but this time with the luck of being able to play it in Spanish. So here we are to talk not only about the gameplay, which we basically know well, but also about dubbing and translation, up to a selectable game difficulty, and a well-defined scheme that describes what and how many possibilities we can open up. front.

August 15, 2038 20:29 pm. This is where the title demo begins. As already explained, the “Hostage” sequence we played is exactly the one that was shown to us over and over again during the long development. We will take on the role of the android Connor, who finds himself having to save a young girl from her “domestic” android, who took her hostage after brutally killing her father. If the gameplay phases are now well established in our mind, with the 6 endings available only for this scene, the possibility of undertaking the negotiation without having collected all the clues, in this demo we learn about two factors that will be decisive for the success of the game. Primarily let's talk about the difficulty: at the first start of the demo we will be asked if we want to play at a "beginner" level, dedicated to people who want to fully enjoy the story, with simpler commands and reduced chances that the characters will die, or "Experts", which on the contrary will put players to the test with advanced controls and of course the possibility of losing characters due to their own mistakes. Another feature that is revealed with the Detroit: Become Human demo is the possibility of analyzing the diagram of the finished scene. Every single possibility and implication that the scene can evolve is listed in a diagram, where obviously the undiscovered options are obscured (perhaps due to the failure to find a proof or the different implication of a dialogue).

In addition to having made sure with more time available the solidity of the game system, we can say that the gameplay of Detroit: Become Human is more than well structured, and from this trial version some technical flaws have not arisen to undermine its quality. The reconstruction phase of the events (which we imagine is Connor's prerogative) is quite easy even on "Expert" difficulty, but we hope that this simplicity in the game is due to the large amount of times we have played the scene. Being able to make predictions on the entire title is really difficult, not only because we don't know the whole story behind the other two characters revealed, but because they too could have particular abilities by changing the gameplay of the scenes dedicated to them.

But what we come into contact with for the first time is dubbing (and general translation). In this case we can say, at least for the few voices we came in contact with, that our voice actors were more than professional, perhaps thanks also to the fact that the characters to whom they gave their voices speak almost exclusively in real videos. . Unfortunately, to date there is not much new to say net of what we have already analyzed in previous articles, but one thing is sure: we are probably facing the best game ever conceived for its genre. We hope not to be proven wrong!
