Destruction AllStars: State of Play reveals new gameplay details

Over the last few hours the development study Lucid games has released a new gameplay video, giving us an in-depth look at the upcoming title exclusively PlayStation 5, AllStars Destruction, examining its various characters and modes. In this new video lasting about seven minutes, the game director of the studio Colin Berry guided players through the gameplay and mechanics of the fun and fast-paced combat racer, showing two of the 16 playable characters and their abilities in action. Within the video, Berry also highlighted the differences between the three types of vehicles available within the game: midsize sports cars, smaller derby cars, and huge SUV-like armored cars, as well as the objectives of each of the four game modes available in Destruction AllStars.

From the moment of its official launch, Destruction AllStars will offer users four game modes: Carnado, Gridfall, Mayhem and Stockpile. Three are very similar to each other, and will consist in collecting as many objects as possible, to allow different teams of players to compete to win the round. The only mode that brings more radical changes in terms of gameplay is Gridfall, which borrows some elements from Fall Guys, the fun battle royale of Mediatonic. In Gridfall, players will have a limited number of lives to be able to defeat the others and remain the last ones standing, although it will be possible to earn additional lives by getting more points.

Each of the 16 characters available in the game will have their own unique hero ability and vehicle, which will recharge as players try to survive, dodging enemy attacks, destroying vehicles and completing objectives. The State of Play video allows us to know better Lupita e Shyft, two characters who, through their completely different game modes, are able to communicate the versatility of the title. While Lupita's attacks are geared towards decidedly more offensive play styles, the cyborg ninja Shyft has more defensive abilities. But although they may differ in their abilities, each character has access to the same game mechanics. These include double jumping, wallrunning, vaulting, wall jumping and dodging.
