Destiny 2: Beyond the Light equipment analysis

La Arrivals Season Destiny 2 will end in a few weeks and with it will come the long-awaited expansion Beyond the Light. Expectations from novices and longtime gamers are very high indeed, similar to how it was last year with Shadows from the Deep. However, Beyond the Light promises to be a new and important beginning for the work of Bungie due to the changes that will be made to the title. Among these we have - as we already know - the addition of Europe as a new explorable planet and the reintroduction of the Cosmodrome of the first Destiny. The cost for these innovations is thus the elimination of many elements, including the destinations of Mars, Io, Titan, Mercury, Leviathan and all related activities. The eyes of the players, however, are focused on the additions of the expansion and, above all, on the weapons. So let's go see what will be the rifles that - probably - will be the protagonists in Beyond the Light.

No Time to Explain

Let's start by analyzing the first exotic shotgun shown in the weapons and equipment trailer. The No Time to Explain, despite being the first to be revealed, it could easily be among the most interesting. It is a pulse rifle whose accurate shots and kills of frozen enemies with stasis they return the bullets to the magazine, as if some space-dimensional event was involved. Furthermore, the accumulation of this effect entails the creation of a portal that will follow us and that will fire shots "from an alternate timeline", thus offering us a great help in the confrontations.

We currently don't know more specific details such as hit rate or magazine capacity, but we do know that Timeless To Explain will be available right away for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of Destiny 2 Beyond the Light, while everyone else will be able to get it after the season 12. This pack will also unlock a catalyst that will increase the portal's bullets per minute. Despite the impressive background, we don't believe this rifle will play an important role in the Crucible, as in a PvP situation it may not be easy to summon the portal. However, the Timeless to Explain can be a problem for Guardians in Gambit, the PvEvP part of the title, where it is much simpler to perform precise killing streaks with stasis.

Nemboassalto

Let's move on to an exotic sniper rifle, the Nemboassalto. When we perform precise kills, they will be placed electric darts in the position where the enemy was defeated. Making series will instead involve the unleashing of real lightning strikes at the point of impact. As you can see, the abilities of this rifle are not expected to be of much use in the Crucible, except perhaps in some smaller areas. On the contrary, the Nemboassalto could prove to be an interesting choice in Assaults or Gambit, where by eliminating multiple enemies with precise hits we will start an electric storm that damages all the others around.

Lament

Il Lament is a new exotic sword, one of the very few in Destiny 2, which will allow you to parry attacks by charging the power of the blade. In this way, it will be possible destroy enemies who have shields, just as we can see in the trailer. There are many questions regarding this weapon, as we really know too little so far: we have seen that we will be able to perform a jump attack, smashing the sword to the ground, but we know nothing else. Our guess is that it will be a destructive weapon and therefore will need its unique bullets to be used. Furthermore, it is not clear what attacks we will be able to parry with it, given that the official Destiny 2 website mentions this possibility. However, we know that when the blade is fully charged, its blows will heal the Guardian holding it.

Hold of Salvation

To conclude the weapons shown during the recent trailer is the Hold of Salvation, an exotic stasis projectile grenade launcher that they create pillars of ice that can immobilize them opponents. This can be charged to increase not only the freezing radius but also the number of crystals that will appear from the surfaces. This is also a very interesting weapon, but its peculiar characteristics preclude the need to try it by hand. Our doubts concern in fact the range and duration of the same, given that the appearance of ice columns could be an excellent company for the abilities of the stasis subclass, which we have already talked about in a previous article.

But these are just some of the weapons that will star in the new expansion of Destiny 2. The title will once again be filled with brand new rifles, pistols, bows, swords and much more, including the blue and red set that has appeared several times in promotional images and videos by Bungie. We currently don't know much about these weapons in particular, as they haven't been shown in detail. However, for this very reason, we believe that they will simply be weapons obtainable from purple engrams or after the completion of events.

Cloak of the Glacial Landslide

Let's move on to the armor, since they too offer interesting changes to the gameplay of Destiny 2. First among these there is certainly the Cloak of the Glacial Landslide, exotic long gloves for the Titans which as an added bonus turn the classic Barricade ability into a real personal shield which absorbs damage from enemy fire. This is a very interesting perk, as it could prove to be a great help especially in Crucible. Not knowing details such as the amount of damage it can take or the duration of the skill yet, it's hard to draw some initial conclusions. However, a flaw must undoubtedly be found in the total loss of the strategic and team factor, since barricades are almost always used to protect oneself and companions.

Precious Scars

To counterbalance this problem there is the Precious Scars, the new exotic helmet for i Titans. His perk involves activating a shield the moment he is revived will protect the guardian and all teammates nearby. Also, as we can see in the trailer, the effect lasts as long as all players stay close together. We do not know if there is a time limit within which this deactivates or if it ends when the Guardians separate. Either way, it's definitely a piece that all Titans will need to keep an eye on when Beyond the Light is released as it offers an important strategic and defensive advantage.

Bakris mask

The exotic hood of the gods hunters it takes its name Bakris mask, and unfortunately it has a purely tactical value. "Unfortunately", sure, but we admit that for many players the advantage it offers could be very interesting: the dodge is replaced with a wider shot that temporarily hides the Guardian. Although it does not cause any kind of damage, this dodge modification allows you to enjoy a considerable strategic advantage, since it will allow us to completely disappear from the sight of enemies. We will see, in practice, if the dodging effects will change accordingly or if they will remain despite the change.

Athrys hug

Here are the exotic vises for hunters that we couldn't wait to find out. The perk that offers theAthrys hug affects an ability of the stasis subclass that calls for a knife that bounces on walls: if you have equipped these vices not only there will be a second rebound, but precision hits will provide a damage bonus and may even stun opponents. There is little to say about it: this piece of equipment speaks for itself and we can't wait to try it with our Hunter.

Dawn Chorus

- Sorcerers, on the other hand, they can get their hands on Dawn Chorus, an exotic helmet that affects theRising dawn. If even before the Super Solar was formidable even in the face of the most powerful enemies, with this headgear equipped the Guardians will get a increased impact damage and burns. To top it off, whenever an opponent takes damage from a burn, the energy of the melee ability is charged. The high additional power means that the Dawn Chorus is a great helmet in both Gambit and Assaults, as well as in the Crucible. I mean, Warlocks should definitely get their hands on it.

Necrotic handles

We therefore conclude with some exotic gloves for Sorcerers, Necrotic handles. Let's talk about a piece of equipment that works similarly to the Dawn Chorus: we know that melee attacks "corrupt" opponents causing damage over time. If an enemy is corrupt and is defeated with the same move, inflicts the same effect on all nearby peers, increasing the energy of the melee. What makes these gloves interesting is the fact that they represent the perfect alternative to the aforementioned exotic helmet for Sorcerers. The use is very similar - almost identical, if we want to say - and thus offers a choice to the players that can only please.

In our opinion, Bungie has done a really great job of differentiating the various pieces of exotic equipment, solving deficiencies where they could be created or even just offering the player the choice to upgrade a skill rather than a Super. The news that will be added to Destiny 2 is expected, once Beyond the Light will be released on November 10, 2020, arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PC and Stadia. We'll keep our eyes peeled not to miss any more news and announcements from Bungie, which is one more reason why we recommend you stay connected on Resources4Gaming.
