Days Gone 2: sequel at risk, creators leave Bend Studio

Days Goneexclusive PlayStation of the last generation, it has lost two of its most important filmmakers, the developers Jeff Ross and John Garvin, which they have decided to abandon Bend Studio making now very difficult the possibility of making a second chapter of the game. In an ad shared by the account Twitter by Jeff Ross, they confirmed that they had left the studio at the head of the creation of Days Gone, as well as affirming that from now on they will look to the future and to new professional challenges. Will we ever see a Days Gone 2?

This week is my last at @PlayStation and @BendStudio. I'm incredibly proud of all the games I got to make, but also looking forward to new challenges ahead. I'll post about my plans later, but I'll be moving to Chicago once COVID calms down. #JeffsGone #DaysGone

On the other hand, an announcement was also made by John Garvin, who confirmed to having left the studio some time ago and to have revealed it only now, explaining that he is taking a break from the gaming industry.

Hi all, a quick announcement: I haven't spoken about this before for various reasons, but I'm no longer with Bend Studio and haven't been for over a year. Since Days Gone shipped, I've been focusing on personal projects: painting, writing, publishing ... (1

Both were senior producers at Sony Bend Studio. John Garvin has also worked on numerous projects at the studio, including Resistance: Retribution. According to what we know, the studio was working on a new project following the success of Days Gone, which became one of the best-selling games of 2019. However, at this point, it is questionable whether this new project will ever see the light, or if, presumably, we will never see a Days Gone 2. Although sales figures have never been disclosed, the title has had a great response from gamers, who have formed a large community that has dedicated a considerable number of hours of play. Days Gone, in fact, despite not being exalted by videogame critics, has established itself as one of the most played on PlayStation 4.

Playing it on PlayStation 5 we got an idea of how could a possible next-gen sequel shoot with 4K and 60fps, with a finally stable technical sector. At this point, however, it is much more likely the arrival of this new mysterious IP rather than a real following of it.
