Days Gone: 10 titles to play while waiting for the Bend Studio creature

There are only a few days left until the release of Days Gone, the exclusive Playstation 4 branded Bend Studio which aims to immerse us in a doomed world, where horrifying creatures called freakers have decimated the human population, infecting as many "guests" as possible in the meantime and ending up dominating the whole globe. Survive and adapt, here are the two pillars of the adventure that we will be able to live from April 26, a rich and multifaceted experience that many players are looking forward to finally being able to try with their own hands. The wait was long, there was no lack of delays and many changes affected the production before it managed to reach the state in which we all know it today, confident of being able to find another small pearl to complement the rest of the line-up. Playstation 4. The hype is skyrocketing and the passing of the hours begins to become unnerving, so what better way to pass the wait if not diving into some other videogame experience that may prove capable of distracting us - at least momentarily - from the adventures of the vast Farewell? Today our intent will be just that, to show you ten titles capable of temporarily satisfying your hunger for blood and bullets, ten high-level productions that will surely entertain you until the fateful Day-1 of Days Gone.

Left 4 Dead 2

There are classics that never die and Left 4 Dead 2 is just one of them. The license plate work Valve which has never seen a sequel - much to the pain of all its fans - still manages to defend itself quietly today thanks to its gameplay that is as frenetic as it is fun. The title, configurable as a first-person co-op shooter, will see you and three other friends inside intricate stages in which, quite simply, you will have to get from point A to point B, perhaps even completing some small task in the meantime. Don't be fooled though, as what initially might seem like a leisurely stroll will soon turn into a veritable hellish journey, with thousands of hungry undead eager to shed your skin that will all attack you together passionately. In the minestrone there will obviously be monstrosities with special powers capable of putting you in serious difficulty and a long series of firearms or melee with which to tear anyone up to pieces. In short, collaborating with your teammates will be essential to be able to hope to bring the pellaccia home in this title, an adventure still largely played by the public that will give you countless hours of healthy videogame fun.

Zombi

Originally known as Zombies U, the launch exclusive for Nintendo WiiU that was able to terrify countless players still has great appeal today. The adventure, later also landed on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC, can go to identify itself as a survival-horror experience that makes the atmosphere and constant tension its strengths. With his creature, Ubisoft in fact, he decided to completely shuffle the cards on the table by placing a difficult title with a very high level of difficulty on the scales. In a post-apocalyptic London now totally overrun by zombies, you will find yourself playing the role of an ordinary citizen desperate for salvation. No military training, no paraphernalia with which to massacre enemies, total absence of heroes without blemish and without fear. All you can do is try to move forward avoiding the most difficult fights - already being attacked by two opponents at the same time could decree your death sentence - and gathering everything you will find around praying that this will be enough. Instead of throwing your head down at the enemy, in Zombies you will therefore have to think carefully about every move, an atypical play structure capable of putting even the most skilled players in crisis, all of which is then accentuated by the single life you will have available. In the event that you were to be mauled, say goodbye to your equipment, goodbye to the skills acquired in long and tiring hours in-game; all you have is a terrified new survivor to continue what you previously failed at. In short, Zombi wants to be a production capable of keeping the player with bated breath and the heart perpetually in the throat, a goal that Ubisoft has been able to hit in full.

Dead Space

Having to talk about qualitatively excellent horror games, it would be impossible not to dedicate a space also to that pearl of Dead Space, which after two splendid main chapters, an excellent spin-off for Wii and a terrible "final" third episode that decreed the death sentence, continues to establish itself today as one of the most beautiful and controversial survival-horror experiences on which you can currently get your hands. Without going into too much detail in order not to spoil anything, due to a strange failure a handful of men is heading towards the USG Ishimura, a huge spaceship used as a "Planet Cracker", or the destruction of the planets with consequent recycling precious metals or minerals. The mission, in which the engineer will also participate Isaac Clarke, however, will soon turn into a real nightmare with open eyes, where horrifying creatures have invaded the spaceship, transforming its crew into beings as fast and cunning as they are dangerous. It is useless to go around it too much, Dead Space shows off one of the most beautiful settings ever seen in a video game, that Ishimura who, among narrow corridors, soft lights and metallic creaks in every corner, has never found a worthy heir. Not least, however, will be the enemies, known as Necromorphs, creatures with humanoid features that will exploit the surrounding environment to hit you when you least expect it. Forget about solving everything with some well-aimed headshot - totally ineffective here - and rather get ready to dismember the limbs of the creatures you face piece by piece to slow them down and, finally, send them to the other world. Dead Space is a series capable of freezing the blood of players, a huge and thrilling adventure in which you will be perennially surrounded by suffocating darkness, alone and poorly equipped. If what you are looking for is a title where you really want to feel the weight of fear with jumping from the chair at every corner, look no further; with the creature of the never too mourned Visceral Games you have just found your holy grail.

Dying Light

When parkour and walking corpses merge together, what emerges from it is an undoubtedly winning mix capable of offering countless moments of pure fun. Dying Light it is just that, a survival horror experience that focuses on an agile and snappy protagonist with whom to indulge in a huge city full of hungry brain eaters. The watchword will be "experiment", take advantage of every single foothold at one's disposal to obtain an advantage over the enemy. Between leaps into the void and long climbs, every action you perform in-game will make you gain experience points with which to obtain new skills useful for gaining greater control of the surrounding environment. Dying Light is in fact a title where direct confrontation is never advisable and in which firearms will be a very rare commodity, as opposed to those melee that will represent a large part of your equipment. Exploring every corner of the map to craft new tools of death with special statuses will be essential in bringing the skin back home, but be careful as it's when night falls that things get interesting. In fact, Dying Light presents a day night cycle that will heavily impact your style of play totally distorting it. If the sunlight will allow you to move with a certain tranquility, when the darkness arrives, new creatures far more dangerous than simple zombies will appear, beings capable of equaling - if not even surpassing - your parkour abilities. When the Moon is high in the sky, it will be your task to look for a safe hiding place by adopting a stealth approach that can attract you as little attention as possible, a change of cards as unexpected as it is successful that closes the circle of a production capable of keep glued to the screen for hours.

Resident Evil 2

The masterpiece Capcom from the now distant 1998 is back in great shape in a remake version that has absolutely nothing to envy to today's AAA productions. The Japanese software house has in fact been able to bring to light a work capable of perfectly mixing old and new in a splendid and captivating dichotomy in every single aspect. The work done in the reconstruction and expansion of the environments is manic, while each mechanic has been carefully refined to function and offer an absolutely unmissable playful mix. In all this there will obviously be a sublime sense of pure anguish that will accompany us to every corner, that terrible awareness of not being in the least equipped to be able to face all the monstrosities that await silently in the darkness. Freshness and tradition are the spearheads of the Capcom creature, a third-person survival-horror that will immediately put at ease both the most avid fans and the new generation, all accompanied by a technical sector capable of making stand out. Raccoon City like never before. Intense heart-pounding escapes, pleasant puzzles to complete, intricate maps to explore far and wide to collect the precious resources scattered everywhere, boss-fights that emanate a sweet retrogaming taste, monsters of all kinds and features that await only one our misstep, Resident Evil 2 isn't just swan song for a genre that bursts with vitality from every pixel, but it even manages to identify itself as the best remake ever made to date, a production of incredible caliber that you absolutely cannot miss.

State of Decay 2

Days Gone: 10 titles to play while waiting for the Bend Studio creature

When imagining a survival-horror, it is easy to think of a predominantly solitary experience in which you have to fight tooth and nail to avoid a bad end, yet this view of the media does not always turn out to be correct. To prove it, it only took the team's arrival on the gaming scene Undead Labs, deserving of having brought to light a production that, in addition to highlighting classic mechanics of the genre, aims to offer a significant plus capable of totally upsetting the playful experience. On the one hand we will have rather classic bases, explore the surrounding world in search of useful materials to survive, all within a highly difficult zombie-themed adventure. A little closer look, however, will be enough for highlight a managerial heart that State of Decay 2 flaunts with extreme pride. The player's task will in fact be to develop a real community in the midst of the apocalypse, organizing structures, personnel and primary and secondary needs. Our every action will have consequences on our group, which could strengthen or fall apart depending on what we do in-game. Keeping morale high will be essential to avoid riots or betrayals potentially capable of destroying everything we have created, but at the same time we will not have to forget about food, medicines and much more. In short, State of Decay 2 is a work that offers the player on duty both moments more properly caciaroni, where it will be necessary to lead the hands, to others decidedly more reflective in which to put aside weapons to make room for the brain carefully judging the next move to be made. The possibility of being able to play in company with a friend is just another valid reason to give production a chance.

Dead Rising

Let's go back to Capcom with a series that over the years has been able to give us great titles and terrible disasters. Dead Rising starts from a very simple idea, close us inside a gigantic shopping center - until we reach entire cities that can be explored in the following chapters - invaded by thousands of clearly visible zombies all together in a single shot. Once in the game, the user on duty will be able to choose how best to behave, perhaps by launching into the plot to discover the truth behind what happened or not caring highly of the events to turn around the shops scattered everywhere, all full of objects to be used as weapon. The real beating heart of Dead Rising can be summed up in hundreds and hundreds of everyday and often idiotic tools to be used as means of death and destruction. From forks to golf clubs and then to lawn mowers, televisions, umbrellas, signal cones and much more, what the Capcom epic wants to do is to leave the player the power to experiment, perhaps combining even more objects to create unique and even more crazy ones. Furthermore, another interesting detail of the IP can be identified in the timer that will accompany you throughout the adventure. In fact, each chapter of the brand - except the last one - has a time limit to be concluded, an interesting detail that will put you in the uncomfortable situation of having to decide how to make the most of your time. Will you set out to rescue innocent people who are being hunted by the undead or will you aim your strength at the dangerous madmen who haunt the surrounding areas? The choice is yours alone, but be aware that every action comes with a reaction.

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series

With The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series we completely leave the playful contexts we have relied on until now to enter a completely different world, that of graphic adventures. To be fair, The Walking Dead is configured more as a narrative adventure, or an experience devoted to the plot that focuses on thick characters capable of conquering the player. Rather than throw ourselves into hordes of brain-eaters to tear apart, the great series by Telltale preferred to bet everything on an exceptional and multifaceted cast, with little Clementine taking the lion's share, faces that will remain etched in your heart for years and years. The adventure will turn out to be a continuous non-stop flight on a roller coaster where the twists will go on seamlessly and in which every loss that your group will suffer will be a very hard blow. All that The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series can show off is a sublime narrative - although from chapter to chapter it has experienced ups and downs - a script capable of making up for every possible playful mechanic and in which the player really feels involved and responsible for any event. Throw yourself into this experience without any fear and get ready to live an experience where the real threat is not just slow and clumsy zombies, but other humans who in this Hell on Earth have decided to let themselves go to their most primal instincts.

The Evil Within

Considering the main theme of this special, don't take this opportunity to tell you about The Evil Within it would have been a real crime. The branded creature Tango Gameworks is configured as a high-level psychological survival-horror that manages to emanate an incredible atmosphere trying to surprise from every point of view. It starts with an intricate and compelling narrative, one of those adventures so twisted that it is impossible not to be passionate about it, either for a continuation of events that does not leave a moment of respite, or for a series of well-multifaceted characters that one is particularly eager to know in detail. Then comes the gameplay, a third-person experience that will require you to carefully manage every single bullet at your disposal trying, in the meantime, to approach the enemy in the most silent way possible. Distinctly stealth phases and a more lively section thus follow one another in a successful intertwining that, pad in hand, returns a fun and satisfying experience that does not disdain even a good basic challenge. Furthermore, we must not forget about that pleasant macabre taste that will be the background to your game, a nightmare made of blood and violence where jumping from the chair will be your most trusted companion. The two chapters of The Evil Within - the last of which, in addition to adding some interesting sandbox phases, files many angular details from the first chapter - will offer you one of those experiences that you will not forget so easily.

The Last of Us

Well yes, of course it was also The Last of Us it had to make its triumphal appearance in our article. That of N it is not simply an action adventure title made with obsessive care, but it represents in effect a breaking point with everything that the genre had accustomed us to. On closer inspection, The Last of Un does not present any truly revolutionary elements and indeed, we have already had the opportunity to see everything it offers in dozens of other video games, films and books. Yet, at the same time, a few moments of play are enough to understand how all the work on the production has been carried out with such attention to even the most insignificant details that it is difficult not to be amazed. The Last of Us is the story of two opposing souls who find themselves in the uncomfortable position of having to push each other to get by in a world now doomed, where a dangerous fungal infection has spread all over the world transforming the inhabitants in very violent creatures. The focus of the narrative is entirely centered on the concept of travel and makes his primary and secondary characters a cornerstone of the whole experience. The more you continue in the adventure, the more you feel connected to every single member of the cast present, rejoicing in taste seeing them overcome their limits and entering a state of total panic when their life finds itself hanging by a thread. The work is a continuous alternation of great directorial moments and scenes that will remain in the collective imagination for many years to come, a ruthless experience that will have no problem throwing punches in the stomach without any difficulty. If in terms of script the title turns out to be a real gem, it is when you actually pick up the pad that you can enjoy the apotheosis of perfection thanks to a surprisingly successful play structure. Few resources, little resistance, the continuous need to move in silence that from time to time is broken by phases of an unprecedented crudeness, not only playful but also psychological. In short, The Last of Us is a hymn to joy for everything related to gaming, the most striking example of how the media has managed to grow and evolve to reach totally unexpected levels, a valid reason to shamefully turn anyone who still today continues to consider our industry as a useless and childish pastime.
