Dark - Review of the latest season of the Netflix Original series

Here we are… The moment we have all been waiting for has come. Defined by many as the best TV series created by Netflix, Dark is famous for being the cause of confusion of many spectators. In fact, it is now clear that to enjoy this title to the fullest, the best thing to do is bring a pen and paper and pay constant attention. The first two seasons were just a preparation for everything that will be told to us in this third part: the beginning of the end. Throughout this review, as usual, we will avoid spoilers, but references will obviously be present the first two seasons - we are sure that if you are reading the review of the third part, you will surely have seen the first two -. For those who do not feel prepared enough or need a short review, we recommend that you consult this site.

The question is not from what age ... But from what world

Let's start with a brief recap of the first two seasons. It won't be easy being perhaps the most intricate TV series ever seen on small screens - the series that Game of Thrones compares is as mundane as the story of Snow White - but we'll do our best. We have now ascertained that the caves allow anyone to be transported to another era. The main events take place in the 2019/20, but we have seen the characters move between the 1921, 1953/54, 1986/87 and 2052/53. It is not always easy to understand in what time period events take place, but fortunately environments and costumes are perfectly able to transport the viewer in the correct time. During the first two seasons, all events were forced by some characters, until the main purpose of Adam: the apocalypse. We saw that during the last episode, a good portion of the characters left in the original era - like the Doppler family, Magnus Nielsen (Moritz Jahn) e Bartosz Tiedemann (Paul Lux) - she succeeded in one way or another at save yourself from the end of the world.Dark - Review of the latest season of the Netflix Original series

An event that will have left everyone bewildered - a totally successful surprise effect - is the figure of Martha (Lisa Vicari) at the end of the eighth episode. While Jonas (Louis Hofmann) mourned the death caused by Adam (Dietrich Hollinderbaum), a figure very similar to the girl approached him claiming to be from another world. And here's the breakthrough we've all been waiting for. During this third season, as everyone will have understood, the events will no longer take place only in different time periods, but in different worlds. Without making spoilers we can only warn you about the difficulty that some may find in distinguishing the places of events. Surely to fully enjoy a series like Dark, a rewatch total is more than recommended.

Event management

A note totally in favor of the series in question is the mode of event management. Once we have finished watching all seasons, we feel able to affirm that all events tidy to perfection. Incredible work has been done to allow producers to create similar content. As tangled and complex as the events are, we still haven't been able to find anything that doesn't fit perfectly. To confirm our statements for the umpteenth time is the final of the third and last part. An ending that, if analyzed, can really make you understand how much everything has been thought out in the smallest details. To avoid unwelcome anticipations of this and other unsolved theories we will talk about it in a separate article.

Dark - Review of the latest season of the Netflix Original series

To help us understand the various temporal situations in which we will find ourselves, this time the producers have decided to appear on the screen (at the beginning of each change) the year in which the events will take place. However, it will not be easy to be able to follow everything. If during the first two seasons the events took place in a very distant time between them, this time we will see people coming back even a few minutes, making it all the more messed up. In addition to the different way of traveling through time, some new figure, never seen before, will return steadily over the course of the episodes and some character considered indispensable in the first two parts come almost entirely abandoned. Do not be afraid that you have missed something, we can in fact reassure you by saying that, all the events that will seem confused and senseless to you, sooner or later during these 8 episodes they will find an answer.

The only criticism we could make a Dark, is that the new way of managing the bets makes it all heavier and less smooth. 8 episodes lasting over an hour have replaced the 10 episodes of 45 minutes of previous seasons. It is not easy to watch more than one episode in a row, given the huge amount of information given each time. The formula 10 × 45 it would have been perfect for enjoying such a title to the fullest.

In conclusion we can say that Dark is in fact a series with the Capital S. The only people who might complain about it are those who probably they haven't given her the right time. Why Dark it's like a baby, your baby. You have to lend it constant attention and devote your time to it, without any kind of distraction. You have to love it, hate it, abandon it and then take it back, all in yourself forty minutes. Each episode is a confusing journey, which will often keep you on your toes making everything more complicated, but rest assured that in the end it will fill you with satisfaction.
