Cyberpunk 2077: the designer expresses himself on the cut contents

Cyberpunk 2077: the designer expresses himself on the cut contents

When there are only a few weeks left until the cyberpunk 2077 of the boys of CD Projekt RED, it is interesting to start making comparisons on how much the title has changed since its first demo, released way back in 2018. Some features, such as the wall running, have been cut and will not be present in the final game format. Miles Tost, senior level designer at Cyberpunk 2077, has recently talked about the changes made compared to the original plans of the software house.

After pointing out that some of the initially planned features were not included in the game, he invited players to read some reviews of the title to get an idea of the final product:

Trimming some features is a normal part of developing a title. You can openly see it with our game, because we happily succumbed to the wishes of the community and showed that 2018 demo. Think about it. The game, complete 2 years after release. Of course we think and change things, and of course we will also have ideas that sound great on paper but then don't end up working well in the game with all the other features.

Believe me when I say that some features that you still like today were also cut during development, perhaps precisely because they were removed. Ultimately, it's all about how much fun the game and its systems offer you, and we're doing our best to make sure it's the best experience possible. Sometimes for this reason you have to make some tough decisions.

Finally, for all players who were concerned about the duration and content of the game after these cuts, Tost replied:

If you are concerned about the amount of content in our game, please don't. We're notoriously bad at judging longevity in our games (remember we estimated players would max out The Witcher 3 at 100 hours), so let's try not to do that again. But I can only keep saying what I've said in the past: You guys haven't seen anything yet.
