Cyberpunk 2077: news (and problems) arrive for Ray Tracing on PC

With the release of patch 1.2 of Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, CD Project Red officially added support to the Ray Tracing for registered video cards AMD. However, this is not a technology made as stable as it is for the other party NVIDIA, as - as analyzed by colleagues at TechRadar - AMD limps particularly in comparison.

Some graphics cards from the red company actually manage to hold their own, as is the case with the battle between the GeForce RTX 3090 and Radeon RX 6900 XT, which sees the very last as winner in 1080p. Once Ray Tracing is enabled, the data becomes particularly worrying, however, considering the performance of AMD cards on Cyberpunk 2077. The number of FPS, which for some cards such as the 6900XT exceeds 120 in 1080p at ultra, drops to peak until it reaches to a third. Under the same conditions, direct competitors of NVIDIA's RTX 2000 and RTX 3000 series come to catch up up to twice as good results.

To make the situation even more "serious", we find the DLSS of the latest generation NVIDIA graphics cards, which currently does not yet see a sufficiently performing competitor at the software level in the competition. On balance, however, let's talk about a particularly heavy game, which needs to be supported by such supports when you want to aim for high resolution settings, even for top-of-the-range video cards.

The arrival of Ray Tracing for AMD video cards in Cyberpunk 1.2 patch 2077 on PC is still surprising after all, and users will surely succeed in the next few months - with maybe more hotfixes to improve the stability of the game on PC. - to enhance your experience with this realistic lighting technology.

Before leaving, we recommend that you use the latest drivers to get the most out of your video cards, especially while using Ray Tracing, this obviously applies to both the “newcomer” AMD and NVIDIA.
