Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done better

It is no mystery that the adventure of V - and why not, even di Johnny and a thousand other characters - has not been appreciated by a large slice of users. The many bugs and technical problems, especially with regard to the old-gen versions of the title, have certainly sunk a product with many exciting creative flashes. After all, as explained in our Cyberpunk 2077 review, CD Project Red has proposed many good ideas and game mechanics, which still deserve to be explored behind the initial technical obstacle.

It is not in fact the negative sides that we want to talk about today, as this text was born for delve into some undoubtedly successful mechanics - or at least in part - which, however, did not receive the right "sprint" and left us a small or large "but" during the hours of play. As is now known, the software house is working hard for the creation of new content (through the upcoming free DLC of the game), as well as the resolution of various problems affecting the product. It is therefore not excluded that in a future update some of the details that we will list today will come improved properly, as we obviously hope it will. So let's find out together the 5 Cyberpunk 2077 mechanics that didn't have the expected impact.

Before leaving you to the text, we remind you that each of the points could contain advances of a general nature on the game, we therefore advise you to continue carefully with the reading, in order to avoid any spoilers.

Relations to be deepened

Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done betterWhile overall one of the best factors of Cyberpunk, it is legitimate to ask for "a little more", especially considering the origins of the title, created by a studio that in the past has already given way to demonstrate its mastery in this area. Although they are sweet and well contextualized, as well as ultimately quite deep in their themes, romantic relationships are unfortunately rather fleeting, and can be summarized in very few moments of impact. It would not have spoiled the presence of more exclusive content related to the latter, such as primary missions unlockable only by performing certain behaviors, or options that allow you to spend more time with your partner in the streets of Night City.

A little out of the way

Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done betterThey have created a great deal of doubt in many players ever since they were first shown, and we sadly have to confirm that the vehicles of Cyberpunk 2077 are often not up to par with the universe they are in. Sure they are varied, and often really inspired, but if you think about the Cyberpunk it's really hard not to turn up your nose for it complete absence of any type of customization or modification for the cars. These are often necessary to move around the huge game map, and it is a pity that in the long journeys it is not possible to create the bonds that would have arisen from the possibility of making the vehicles truly one's own, through unique modifications that can be carried out with some materials or Eurodollars.. The entire driving gameplay is not particularly successful, as it is ultimately rather woody, especially as soon as you decide to make curves with any means.

Better to use ranged weapons

Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done betterEven with the thousand possibilities included, including hacking, weapons and a thousand devices to knock out enemies, it's a real shame that the hand-to-hand combat hasn't been taken care of as much as the shooting system, which instead offers a particular and appreciable feedback. In most cases, sidearms do not give the right satisfaction, especially given the few possibilities offered in the combat phase. The real disappointment, however, comes in hand to hand combat, practically inadvisable for any builds related to talents, given its lack of effectiveness. The fistfights, both as regards the classic enemies, and for the encounters of the secondary mission Beat on the Brat, are rather forgettable and are summed up almost more in blows given to the air than to the opponents, which instead in the clashes they often manage to bring really unrealistic attacks hit. The situation improves with the use of implants tied to the arms, a total of 4, who are able to undoubtedly put a patch on the problem, but in any case not replacing the real sequences "with bare hands".

The aesthetics of V

Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done betterAlthough it was legitimate to expect more from the editor of Cyberpunk 2077, at least considering the promises made over the years by the developer, it must be said that it is quite easy to create a V or a similar to your tastes, thanks to the possibilities included in the modeling phase of your virtual avatar. Certainly some traits are hardly modifiable, given the scarcity of options offered in certain fields, but the real problem lies in the fact that the protagonist's appearance remains static for the entire course of the adventure. Through the Scalpels it is possible to insert many types of implants into your body, it is true, but there is no way to change the features or simply the hairstyle of V, which in fact remains the same from the beginning of the work to the credits. . It is easy for the developer to include this feature in one of the next updates, a factor that will surely make many users happy if it is confirmed.

Eurodollars

Cyberpunk 2077: here are 5 mechanics that could have been done betterWe know they are the Eurodollars is Eddie, to spin the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and its ruthless Night City, but concretely these are less useful than you can imagine for the player. The management of the economy was certainly not excellent on the part of CD Projekt Red, who would have been able to make currency more central to the experience. In addition to buying cars, equipment and some secondary activities, the Eddies are not much use, and if you don't want to complete your collection of vehicles (impossible without a heavy grinding of secondary activities), you easily end up accumulating them excessively. especially if you focus on the many Secondary Missions and on the present assignments. It would certainly be pleasant to discover new activities to be carried out with the in-game currency within the game map, given the thousand possibilities that the narrative universe in question allows.
