Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition - Nintendo Switch port review

Arrived on PC in May of last year, Cultist Simulator he managed to hit the hearts of many fans of “out of line” titles with a well-aimed shot. As detailed in our review (here is the link to access it) the title has brought with it a breath of fresh air in the market, offering a unique experience, which leads the player to create his story game after game, simply by using cards . Shaping the deeds of the cult is no easy task, and although the games do not have an exaggerated duration - which obviously depends on how you play them - being able to expand and heal your cult in portability is really an interesting option. Thanks to the support of Playdigious, then, Weather Factory he brought his game on Nintendo switch, console that obviously has no problems in supporting such a light production (but only in the technical sector), and which exponentially increases the possibilities. So let's find out together how the edition that takes the name of behaves Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition on the Nintendo hybrid!

The thousand choices of Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition

Presenting itself - at least from the premises - as a management title, Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition simply leads users to select cards to advance in their game. The first move the player makes, when there are only two cards in front of him, it's just the same as the last one, a gameplay therefore extremely basic and impossible not to understand. However, if the possible actions are very clear, the same does not apply to the impact of one's choices in the narrative, representing the true fulcrum of the game. It takes several games to understand it and learn it fully, and obviously not all players have the patience to follow the times required by Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition, but those harmless cards are actually chosen to carry on their own cult.Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition - Nintendo Switch port review

Sometimes important decisions and others not very incisive, sometimes harmless and sometimes cruel, which card after card sanction the flow of a completely mute narrative, reported in the texts and understandable only through the reading of these, which must be understood to couple the cards from time to time, in order to obtain different results. Once harmonized with the sense of the game, Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition knows how to be loved and transmits unique sensations, which will lead you not to want to disconnect from the game (and consequently from the story you are writing) as if you were reading a great book. Unfortunately, the experience remained as punitive as in the PC version, and once you make a choice that is as courageous as it is wrong, it is really difficult to recover.

The landing on Nintendo Switch

Porting for Nintendo Switch can be very convenient, not so much for using the console in the dock (practically useless for this type of experience, but still not overlooked) as for touch screen functions, and for the ability to calmly read the cards in any place. Time flows continuously within the game, but thanks to the possibility of pausing and speeding it up according to your needs, it is possible to take the Nintendo jewel with you to enhance the potential of the experience. The new edition also includes a tutorial, far from well done, as it consists only of some images and texts, but at least enough not to leave the player completely confused when approaching the experience for the first times.

The biggest problem with Cultist Simulator: Initiate Edition is the lack of localization in our language, especially considering that the words used are often quite elaborate and difficult to understand even for those who partially chew one of the languages used. It is therefore important, also for this edition, to have a really high level of English, Russian or German, to be able to savor all the texts without effort in reading.
