Could Final Fantasy XIV still arrive on Xbox? Yoshida tells us

Final Fantasy XIV has attracted more and more fans over the years and, although it has only been made available on PlayStation and PC, the developers have talked on numerous occasions to bring it to other platforms as well, particularly on Xbox. Recently, however, the director and producer of the MMORPG Naoki Yoshida said that due to the tight schedule for the development team, it was unlikely that the game would arrive on other platforms in the near future. However, in a recent interview, Yoshida may have rekindled fans' hope.

There are no obstacles to the development of the Xbox version of the game. We have been able to undertake the development and provide our service thanks to the immense efforts that Phil has invested. For this we are truly grateful! The only factors are the workload and the order of the next steps to follow. Now, when it comes to the Xbox version, unfortunately there isn't much I can tell you at the moment, just that we can't work on all projects at once, and we have to follow a definite order for these things. Since we are currently involved in the development of Endwalker and are preparing the PlayStation 5 version after the old gen one, it would be interesting if we could get back to developing the Xbox version once things have settled down!

Although the development team is focused on the upcoming expansion of Endwalker and on launching the game for PlayStation 5 at this time, and although working times are always tight, Yoshida suggests that Square Enix still might return to the possibility of bringing the MMO to Xbox. Square Enix has always kept a close eye on Final Fantasy XIV. Even nine years after its release, the Japanese company is always trying to improve its product, trying to keep the attention of users high. And now, it could also do it at Microsoft.
