Colosseum: the largest Lego set ever created will be available soon

A record set what Lego he dedicated to Coliseum: well 9.036 pieces! Enthusiasts will be able to bring a piece of history into their homes, recreating the most famous and iconic landmark of the City of Rome. The construction perfectly reproduces the architecture of the original Roman amphitheater. All those who are passionate about history and, of course, the legendary Lego bricks will thus be able to discover a fundamental part of ancient Rome, immersed in the comfort of their own home, starting from the next 27st November. From that date, in fact, it will be possible to buy the Lego Colosseum in Lego Stores or on the Internet, by directing their browsers to lego.com.

The reproduction of the Lego Colosseum is rich in detail: the model is characterized by three architectural orders: Doric, Ionic and Corinthian columns, all faithfully recreated with Lego bricks, using innovative construction techniques, including decorative motifs on the scrolls reproduced using roller skates for colored and upside down Lego minifigures , in order to obtain an identical appearance. The 80 ribbed vaults in the steps underline a sensational attention to detail, designed to remain faithful to the historic building. Three different shades of bricks simulate the aging of the various columns, which have held the Colosseum standing for almost 2000 years! The structure rests on an oval base to be admired at 360 °. The builders will thus be able to choose which part to show, whether the southern part of the amphitheater, destroyed by various earthquakes and natural disasters that have occurred over the years, or the northern part, which has remained practically intact. The Colosseum also has arches that allow you to admire the center of the amphitheater from the outside, just as it happens in reality.

Rok Zgalin Kobe, senior designer of the set, said: “One of the biggest and most important challenges was to convey the monumentality of the Colosseum with bricks. The LEGO model had to highlight the special architectural feature of the original: the rows of columns flanking the arches in different styles. To achieve this, the set is made using a vertical exaggeration effect. The cross section is therefore much steeper than the original structure. Thanks to the experience of building the LEGO model, we hope to entice all builders to learn more about the original ”.

The LEGO Colosseum measures over 27 '' (52cm) high, 59 '' (XNUMXcm) wide and XNUMX '' (XNUMXcm) deep. You can admire it in detail thanks to the images shown at the bottom of the news. Before leaving you to the pictures, did you know that at the dawn of spring this year Lego unveiled the set dedicated to the Dodge Charger R / T that Dominic Toretto drives in the Fast & Furious film series? Finally, how about having a toast together in the set dedicated to the Mos Eisley Tavern from Star Wars?!
