CD Projekt RED: hackers have auctioned the codes of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3

Reportedly, the stolen source code of cyberpunk 2077, the free-to-play card game Gwent and an unreleased version of The Witcher 3 would already be auctioned after the developer CD Projekt RED refused to give in to hackers' ransom demands following a breach of its servers. Yesterday, CD Projekt released a statement claiming that an "unidentified actor" gained unauthorized access to its internal network over the weekend and collected a series of data. A note accompanying the attack gave the developer 48 hours to "reach an agreement" regarding the source code and documents - related to accounting, administration, legal, human resources and investor relations - stolen from its servers, otherwise he would have started selling them or leaking them on the net.

For its part, the Polish company has pledged not to give in to requests or to negotiate with the actor. He also said he was taking "the necessary steps to mitigate the consequences of such a release, in particular by addressing all parties who may be affected". With 48 hours now elapsed, however, it appears that hackers are preparing to keep their word: Tom's Hardware is reporting (based on information from vx-underground) that the source code samples for Gwent are already leaked online, along with that of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 to be auctioned later today. The initial full cache offer is currently set at $ 1.000.

CD Projekt RED has yet to respond to this latest development, but recommended former employees to take precautions after the leak in an update tweet posted last night: “As of this moment, we have no evidence that the access to any of your personal data ".
